We had the good fortune of connecting with Brooke Christian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brooke, what do you attribute your success to?
The most integral factor in the KWFF brand is standards of excellence. The core of our festival is the programming of the best films in the world for that particular year. Some of the foremost film critics help shape a lineup that showcases a balance of diversity and quality. The experience of watching films on the highest level is complemented by a backdrop and atmosphere sought by the world’s foremost travelers. We like to say it’s where Passion Meets Paradise. The experience lives up to that billing.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I helped run a language services company that went from humble beginnings in the mid 90s to the largest provider in the industry at more than 1B in annual sales. My primary role was concentrated on revenue development and being the brand ambasssador.. I always had a passion for film, as does my wife, Lindsey. She helped convince me that despite not having any experience, we could launch a successful annual film event. We started the Key West Film Festival in 2012. We now run a winery together in Santa Barbara County, CA.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

The programming director for KWFF is the true auteur of the experience. Over the last 12 years, the lineup of films he has has curated is awe inspiring. It’s more than just Oscar consideration – though i think we over 100 films that have won. The films Michael Tuckman programs are provocative, diverse and consistently inspirational.
