We had the good fortune of connecting with Brooke Hall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brooke, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
In the business world, one of the figures we like to glean insight from is Sara Blakeley, founder of Spanx. She teaches that your product must solve a problem, and be the best solution out there. I think the most important factor behind the success of our brand is just that – we are the best solution for reusable gift wrap that exists on the market right now.

The “problem” is most apparent on Christmas. Presumably someone holds the big black trash bag and it’s overflowing with trash as the long-awaited present opening ensues. If you’re someone like me, not only are you worried about how you’ll handle the backflow of trash that won’t fit in your bin this week, but you’re increasingly saddened as you multiply the amount of trash by the homes in your neighborhood, city, state, etc…

While the biggest problem is wrapping paper as a short-lived product that continues to fill our landfills, a secondary problem is the inconvenience of wrapping gifts. Generally, you can’t find the scissors, you’ve run out of tape, and your wrapping paper roll from last year has a kink in the middle. EverWrap, while being a durable solution for reusable gift wrap, is also the quickest way to wrap a beautiful gift. Our brand solves two major problems with our line of bags and boxes, and this is why our brand succeeds.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Digital Graphics. At the time I was working at a Marketing Firm for new home builders. I have extensive experience designing and coding websites, mostly in the Real Estate industry but also for other brands; banks, retail, and chocolate to name a few. I always wanted to dabble in product design. When I was younger I thought it would be fun to design China patterns, even though I already knew it was probably a dying industry — nobody my age registered for China for their wedding anymore.

When my partner insisted that we create EverWrap, I was very excited to start work as a creative putting patterns and colors together. The most helpful skills were my use in repeating patterns from creating backgrounds for websites. We used repeating patterns for all of our EverWrap designs. I also knew how to set up the files, and use Pantone colors for consistency from both my college classes and the marketing firm.

While product design is completely different than the websites I was building, so much of design and problem solving overlaps in the creative world. It creates unique parameters where your designs start taking form.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my Shoutout to Shannon Cline, my partner in EverWrap. She was open-minded enough to see that my homegrown product needed to be something real. Together we brought it to market and have proudly watched it become a 5-star brand.
