We had the good fortune of connecting with Bryan Paschal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bryan, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Throughout my career, I made it a point to always follow the rules and be honest, even if it took me down a more challenging path. So, I’d say my integrity is a value that matters most, which, in addition to my faith, has been the foundation for me to enjoy a great reputation within the legal community. I believe that keeping your integrity goes a long way to developing positive relationship with judges and other attorneys who I may be working with or against.
What should our readers know about your business?
My sister, Yolanda Strader, and I started Strader Paschal PLLC in February 2022. Prior to that, we were a partner or shareholder at very prestigious law firms in South Florida. Ironically, although our prior firms practiced similar areas of law, such as complex business litigation, Yolanda and I had never actually worked together during our careers, until we started our firm. I am extremely proud of the amount of success we’ve been able to enjoy in such a short period of time.
Our firm strives to provide top level legal work, without charging top level rates, making it possible for a much wider group of businesses and individuals to afford excellent representation. Personally, I pride myself in creating quality solutions for my clients by thinking outside the box and providing a significant value to each client.
I believe an important factor that helped us start our business and overcome the accompanying challenges was the example set by our parents. My mother immigrated from Jamaica without much to her name, and she was able to run very successful real estate and mortgage businesses for many years in South Florida. My dad worked with her to make that business work. I remember him doing the landscaping at my mother’s listings to improve how the properties looked before open houses and other showings, which helped her close the deals. Their hard work really showed us that we can build our own firm and be successful.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I grew up in Miami and I use to be a DJ in Miami’s Caribbean scene. A lot of my close friends (including my daughter’s god father) promote some of the best parties Miami has to offer. I’d direct anyone to parties or brunches that are being thrown by The Link Up group. Their IG is “thelinkupp” and their events can be found there. Also, I’d suggest that my friend visits Rise and Toast in Wynwood on Sundays for a great day party that also has some damn good food!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is a tough one because there are so many people that have helped me along the way. My parents worked hard to give me the opportunity to become a successful lawyer. My sister (who is also my law partner) always set the bar for what it takes to be an excellent lawyer. I had a couple of amazing mentors, including Judge Patrick White and Judge David Gersten. Both were incredibly valuable because they guided me during a time where my mother was very sick and in a coma for several months.
I interned for Judge White, and he gave me a lot of advice and mentorship that helped set me on the right path in my career (and in life)! Judge Gersten was a trial competition coach at my law school while I was on the trial team. We spent a lot of time together and he believed in me. Through his coaching, I was able to become a state and national trial competition champion, and I received numerous other awards, including a best advocate award from the American Bar Association. When my mother came out of her coma and was getting better, it was really great to tell her about traveling all over the nation for those competitions and to show her the awards.
But most importantly, I have to give praise to the Lord for giving me strength, making it possible for me to accomplish so many things, despite the odds. It’s through his strength that I’m able to be where I am today.
