We had the good fortune of connecting with Budy Jamilly (pronounced Beauty) Whitfield and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Budy Jamilly (pronounced Beauty), what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?

Raising a young Latino man has been my greatest joy and my biggest accomplishment. My son is the sun that shines brightly in my life and has been the driving force behind my own growth and healing journey. As a parent, I have always made communication, self-expression, and self-love a top priority in our home. I’ve enjoyed many nighttime chats with my son about our days, our dreams, and what we hope to achieve in the future.

To me, being a parent means providing guidance, support, and a strong moral compass for our children. I’ve worked hard to instill in my son values like hard work, respect, and caring for others. I want him to know that mental health is just as important as physical health and that supporting those in need, is a noble and vital role we can all play in society.

I believe that every child has the potential to achieve greatness, and as a mother, I am my son’s biggest cheerleader. I encourage him to be his best self and to never give up on his dreams. To me, parenting is about giving our children the tools they need to succeed, and watching them soar.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

I am thrilled to be the owner of not one, but two incredible businesses: Beauteous Me Corp and Beauteous Mind, LCSW PLLC. My entrepreneurial journey began when I started podcasting in 2019, which eventually paved the way for my ultimate venture. In the summer of 2020, I made the bold decision to launch Beauteous Me, where I now coach and empower women to achieve their goals and dreams. But it didn’t stop there – I recognized a need for deeper support and care in women’s mental health, which led me to launch my private practice, Beauteous Mind LCSW PLLC. Through this practice, I am able to help women truly address the root of their problems and work towards true healing and growth.

Beauteous is more than just a brand – it’s a reminder that you are beautiful and worthy of all that life has to offer. You can conquer your past traumas and live a fulfilling life full of authenticity and meaning. However, mental barriers can prevent you from achieving this. My brand embodies everything beautiful, inside and out, with Beauteous Me representing Beautiful Me and Beauteous Mind representing Beautiful Mind. It reminds you that despite any hardships you have faced, you are deserving of love, happiness, and success. So always keep in mind that you are a beautiful and resilient individual, worthy of all of life’s blessings, no matter what obstacles you encounter.

As an entrepreneur, I took a daring step away from comfort and familiarity, embarking on a journey of growth and accomplishment. Through the guidance of my mentors and my own unwavering determination, I transformed into a confident and empowered woman with a clear vision. While there were moments of difficulty as I battled past traumas and negative thoughts, my personal healing journey led me to discover a newfound passion – empowering women to heal themselves. Drawing on my education and personal experiences, I now stand as a credible messenger of hope for many others. My success may sound like boasting, but I am truly proud of where this leap of faith has taken me.

The world of entrepreneurship is anything but a breeze – it’s a rollercoaster ride of experimentation, sleepless nights, and betting your whole livelihood on your passion. If someone tells you it’s a walk in the park, chances are they’re not being genuine. That being said, it’s possible to make things more manageable by finding the right support system, creating top-notch methods, and always staying curious. Being an entrepreneur means being a lifelong learner, always on the lookout for the latest industry trends and innovative ways to market your brand. No amount of education, fancy titles, or accolades can fully prepare you for the realities of running a business – it’s all about putting your trust in guidance from experienced coaches or mentors who’ve been there before.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Planning is woven into my DNA – I even craft meticulous itineraries for my friends when we travel. But if we’re dreaming big, then Greece is our ultimate destination. I can already visualize jaw-dropping views from our Santorini villa, taking in every inch of that deep blue sea. Savoring the freshest seafood at Metaxi Mas and sailing across the Aegean Sea would be non-negotiables, of course. We’d throw in history and culture with tours of Athens’ Acropolis and the Greek Pantheon. And since exploring is the name of the game, we’d island-hop, soaking up the local flavor of each stop. But the most important part? Sharing unforgettable moments with my tribe. After all, the memories we create together are far more valuable than any passport stamp or tourist attraction.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Before embarking on my story, I must express my gratitude to the almighty for his boundless love which has been my anchor in the face of life’s rollercoaster. Faith is my guiding principle and without it, I would not possess the tenacity to overcome every challenge that comes my way. This journey has not been easy, but I am forever grateful for the soldiers who have stood by me every step of the way. My mother, who has instilled in me the value of greatness and excellence. My rock-solid support system comprised of my husband, son, siblings and amazing group of girlfriends who cheer me on unconditionally. Finally, my Latinx in Social Work co-authors who embody the essence of community by tirelessly striving to reach the apex of their potential. Together, these individuals have been the driving force behind my success story.
