Meet Camila Perez

We had the good fortune of connecting with Camila Perez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Camila, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
One piece of conventional advice I disagree with is the idea that success is simply about wanting something badly enough or copying what works for others. While persistence and hard work are important, I believe success is deeply personal and starts with self-awareness.
Many people see someone thriving in a certain field and think, “If they can do it, I can too.” Social media often amplifies this with phrases like, “If I can, you can too.” While inspiring on the surface, it ignores the fact that everyone has unique strengths and talents. What works for one person might not work for another.
For example, someone may find success as a makeup artist, but that doesn’t mean the same path will work for someone whose strength lies in public speaking or creating art. The key isn’t to mimic others but to understand yourself—what you’re naturally good at and passionate about—and align your efforts with those strengths.
I also think the trend of “just manifest it, and it will come” can be misleading. Manifestation only works when it’s rooted in authenticity and paired with action that leverages your unique abilities. Without self-awareness, it’s easy to pursue goals that don’t truly fit, leading to frustration instead of fulfillment.
In my view, the foundation of success isn’t just persistence or visualization; it’s understanding who you are and building a path that’s authentic to you. Once you do that, the consistency and effort will naturally fall into place.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My “art” lies in storytelling and creating meaningful connections with others through my experiences as a mom, immigrant, and lifestyle influencer. What sets me apart is my authenticity and the way I share my life—especially the ups and downs—without any pretenses. I’m proud of the community I’ve built, where people come for inspiration, advice, and a sense of belonging. I’m passionate about helping others, particularly parents, and those navigating life’s challenges.
I got to where I am today through a lot of reinvention and perseverance. I’m an immigrant who has started over twice: first from Cuba to Spain, and then from Spain to the U.S. In Spain, I was a podiatrist, but I couldn’t use my degree here in the U.S., and I didn’t have the passion to continue in that field. So, I reinvented myself, earning a second bachelor’s degree in history, specializing in conflict resolution and mediation. I worked at the courthouse, was accepted into law school, and pursued my educational dreams with pride. But balancing my ambitions with being a mom of three kids, one of whom is on the autism spectrum, was incredibly difficult. I was exhausted and struggling to keep up, especially with the long commute to work and sleepless nights.
It was thanks to my husband’s unwavering support that I made the bold decision to quit my job, pause law school, and take a leap of faith into social media. What started as a way to entertain myself and connect with other moms going through similar challenges ended up turning into a full-time career. I never imagined that sharing my life would evolve into something so impactful, but here I am—doing what I love and helping others in the process.
The lessons I’ve learned along the way are immense. I’ve learned the importance of self-awareness—knowing my strengths and focusing on them, as well as the power of community and sharing authentically. It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been worth it. Overcoming challenges often requires resilience, support from loved ones, and knowing when to pivot.
What I want the world to know about me is that I am a work in progress, just like everyone else. I’m not just a lifestyle influencer; I’m someone who has learned to embrace the chaos of life, to keep going even when things aren’t perfect, and to help others feel seen and heard in their own journeys. My story is one of reinvention, support, and growth—and I’m proud to share it with the world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend from Spain were visiting, I’d show them the best of both my small town and Miami, which is just a short drive away. I live in a quiet town with not much going on, but Miami is full of excitement, and there’s so much to explore!
We’d start the week with a trip to Coral Gables, one of my favorite areas in Miami. The architecture there is beautiful, with lots of charming southern-style homes. For a classic Cuban experience, I’d definitely take them to Café Versailles and La Carreta. Both are iconic spots where we can enjoy Cuban coffee, croquetas, and other delicious dishes.
A trip to Wynwood is a must—it’s a vibrant neighborhood full of street art, galleries, and unique shops. I’d also take them to Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. It’s such a gorgeous place, full of history, beautiful architecture, and stunning gardens overlooking Biscayne Bay.
Of course, no trip to Miami would be complete without hitting the beach. I’d prefer the quieter, calmer areas on the island, like the beaches near Sunny Isles, rather than the hectic vibe of South Beach, which I’m not a fan of.
If we had a day to spare, I’d love to take them on a one-day trip to the Keys. The laid-back atmosphere, scenic drive, and gorgeous southern-style houses are always a treat. I’m all about seeing beautiful houses, so I’d also give them a tour of some of the best mansions in Miami—there are some stunning homes that I’m sure they’d appreciate.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my husband, who has supported me more than anyone else throughout all my adventures. He is truly my biggest fan, my unwavering supporter, and my rock. We’ve come from nothing together, and he’s always believed in me, often seeing potential in me that I couldn’t even see in myself. Thanks to his constant encouragement, I was able to complete my second bachelor’s degree, attend law school, and juggle raising three kids—one of whom is on the autism spectrum. Starting my social media adventure was actually his idea, and here we are today because he believed in me more than I believed in myself. His support has made everything possible, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without him. He deserves all the recognition in my journey.
