We had the good fortune of connecting with Camilla & Nathan Rivers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Camilla & Nathan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Originally, we thought Flex Wash would be a way to make some extra money on the weekends. We both worked at dental offices and had good jobs, but we felt we wanted something more.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We started the process of creating Flex Wash Mobile Detailing back in August of 2018. We created our logo, website and Instagram and began posting. We started getting a lot of followers organically with satisfying before and after pictures and videos of car detailing. We stayed consistent with posting and we began to get a lot of business through Instagram and word of mouth.
The process of getting to where we are today was definitely not easy. We had so many challenges come at us and learned enough lessons for a lifetime trying to make our business successful and our clients happy. We believe the most important part of overcoming challenges is to never give up and always try to find a solution. We stand by our work and are always with clients which we believe sets us apart from others.
Working with the Miami Dolphins is easily what we are most proud about regarding our business. We always dreamed of being able to work with them, and the day we received the e-mail that they were interested in us doing the players cars for the season it almost felt unreal. They actually contacted us for the position based on our Google reviews and we have been doing business with them for 2 years now. It just showed how keeping customers happy and doing honest work pays off.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would start off in Fort Lauderdale, at El Camino happy hour for drinks and tacos. They have the best margaritas at an unheard of price. Then, I’d take them to Fort Lauderdale beach to relax and get some sun (and maybe another margarita).
For a more chill day, I would take them to Wolf Lake or Vista View Park in Davie for some nature and exercise. They are definitely some of my favorite parks in Broward, its not all just beaches and drinks.
For nightlife, I would of course take them to Wynwood. Pilo’s Tequila Garden has been a recent favorite for a night out, but I also love Mayami and Dirty Rabbit.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We were actually watching an episode of Shark Tank one night when we realized we wanted to pursue entrepreneurship and we began building our business from there.
More importantly of course, we have to shout out the people of Broward County for supporting us and helping us get to where we are now!
