We had the good fortune of connecting with Carlos Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I believe my music has become very unique because I was born in one country, but raised in another. These two worlds colliding within my mind has created this pop/ reggeaton/ rap/ R&B/Latin sound that is rarely seen within the music industry. Of course, the increase popularity in Reggeaton has opened up the doors for many artists, like myself, to experiment with our Latin side while also using characteristics from other genres that have been well-known in the US for years. I started writing music when I was in high school and the idea of performing on a big stage with thousands of people watching me has definitely been the motivation I need to continue this path. Of course, this path comes with a lot of doubts and downfalls, but that is one lesson that I’ve learned through the years. You are your biggest fan and your hardest critic, but at the end of the day be proud of what you create because someone out there is waiting for your sound and your message.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am definitely a nightlife type of guy, but also a homebody all at once. If I had family over visiting Miami for the first time I would hit up the cliche tourist spots just because it’s a must-see. This includes Miami Beach (yes even with the traffic being horrible), Lincoln Road, American Airlines Arena (even though it was renamed it will always be the Triple-A for me), Brickel, and even the Design District (to make them feel a bit boujie.) I can always agree that Wynwood during the weekend is the best place to dance and have a good time, no matter where you go there is always a nice crowd and amazing music. I have noticed recently that the nightlife in the Brickel area has become pretty interesting too, the people are more willing to have a good time just because the environment is so “Miami.” It’s just hard to pack so much within this interview, but just know that Miami has something for everyone and no matter on which side of town you’re in you’ll always find good food, awesome music, and great people to vibe with.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So if I had to choose one person that I dedicate this to it’s most definitely my brother, Santiago. Of course, I would love to give a shoutout to every single person that has connected with my soul ever since I started my music journey, but my brother has been the one that has helped me come up with ideas, execute my photoshoots, edit the images, and keep an unbiased approach when I asked for his true opinion on many things. He doesn’t do these things expecting something in return, so for that I really appreciate him because the marketing side of music is probably the hardest aspect to master and he has made it so much easier for me.
