When reflecting on the individuals who deserve credit and recognition in my story, there are two influential figures who have played a significant role in shaping my journey: my mother and my father.
First and foremost, I owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to my mother. As a single parent raising my four siblings and me, she displayed unwavering strength, dedication, and resilience. Despite working two jobs, she always made it a priority to create special family moments, like our cherished family nights. Among those nights, dance night holds a special place in my heart. Together, we would joyfully dance around the living room, embracing our individuality even if our moves were offbeat. Witnessing my mother’s commitment to making time for us and nurturing our family bonds left an indelible mark on my character. In addition to her role as a loving mother, my mother was also an aerobic instructor. Her dedication to fitness was evident in her busy schedule as she would carve out time for her own workouts. I can vividly recall watching her follow along with Jane Fonda’s exercise routines, always extending an invitation for us to join her. These moments not only fostered a love for movement and fitness but also instilled in me the importance of taking care of one’s physical well-being.
Equally deserving of recognition is my father, whose influence in the realm of fitness cannot be understated. A third-degree black belt and a skilled boxer, he exemplified discipline, perseverance, and the pursuit of excellence. His passion for martial arts and commitment to physical fitness inspired me greatly. Observing his dedication to honing his skills and maintaining peak physical condition fueled my own desire to embark on a path in the fitness industry.
Collectively, the nurturing environment created by my mother and the athletic prowess exhibited by my father shaped my upbringing and provided the foundation for my deep connection with fitness.
