We had the good fortune of connecting with Carol Edmond and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carol, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting Place of Aroma came from a place of healing and purpose. After experiencing the loss of my nephew due to health issues linked to environmental toxins, I became hyper-aware of what we’re putting on and around our bodies especially fragrances. I realized that scent is powerful: it can trigger emotions, memories, and even healing. But so many products on the market are either filled with harmful ingredients or lack a personal connection.

I wanted to create something that was both safe and meaningful—something that allowed people to express themselves through fragrance in a way that felt luxurious, fun, and uniquely theirs. That’s when the idea of a mobile fragrance bar came to life. I saw a gap in the event industry for custom, sensory-driven experiences that go beyond decor and I wanted to fill it with scent.

At the core of my decision was the belief that entrepreneurship could be a vehicle for freedom, impact, and creativity. I didn’t just want to sell products; I wanted to create memories, spark joy, and empower others to tap into their senses. It’s grown into a platform that reaches everything from luxury events to youth entrepreneurship workshops and I’m just getting started.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is rooted in scent—but it goes far beyond perfume. At Place of Aroma, I create immersive fragrance experiences that allow people to express themselves, connect, and create memories. Whether it’s a luxury fragrance bar at a wedding, a custom car spray activation at a major event, or a youth entrepreneurship workshop where kids learn to make scented slime or candles—everything I do is about making scent personal, meaningful, and fun.

What sets me apart is that I don’t just sell products—I curate sensory experiences. My work lives at the intersection of luxury, creativity, healing, and joy. Every activation is custom, every scent is crafted with intention, and every guest walks away with something they created themselves.

I got here through faith, consistency, and a whole lot of trial and error. It hasn’t been easy. I’ve faced financial hardship, burnout, and moments of doubt. I’ve worked side jobs, called out of shifts to make it to activations, and poured everything I had into making Place of Aroma a reality. But through it all, I kept showing up—even when things didn’t go as planned. I learned to trust the process, ask for help, and celebrate every small win.

What I want the world to know is that my brand was built from purpose and pain—but also from passion. It’s inspired by my late nephew, whose passing made me rethink what we put on and around our bodies. It’s shaped by my community, who continues to pour into me. And it’s sustained by clients who believe in the power of scent to transform moments into memories.

This isn’t just about fragrance—it’s about impact. And we’re just getting started.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a total foodie, so expect lots of flavor! We’d definitely hit up some of my fave Mediterranean spots (you have to try Byblos), and stroll through Downtown Hollywood, one of my go-to gems for chill nights or special occasions. Think: cute restaurants, hidden gems, and good vibes.

We’d mix beach days, fragrance-making fun, a little art in Wynwood, and sunset views in Fort Lauderdale. Basically: good food, good energy, and unforgettable memories.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I want to give all glory to God. Trusting in Him has been the anchor of my journey. It hasn’t always been easy, but my faith has provided the strength, resilience, and clarity I needed to keep pushing forward with purpose.

I also want to shout out the incredible local organizations that have supported small businesses like mine—especially MDEAT and GMCVB. Their contributions have made a powerful impact in the South Florida entrepreneurial community and have helped businesses like Place of Aroma thrive.

To every client, friend, and supporter who has believed in me—especially those who trusted my vision for the fragrance bar before it was popular or polished—thank you. Your belief helped me build something meaningful, and I don’t take that for granted.

This journey hasn’t been solo by any means, and I’m deeply grateful for every prayer, opportunity, and open door along the way.
