We had the good fortune of connecting with Carol Paz Nickless and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carol, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I grew up in Honduras , watching my grandmother hand making straw hats to sell at the market . The process that it took her to make the hats always impressed me. That made me always appreciate hand made items .
Six years ago I decided to start a business selling unique , one of a kind accessories . I was fortunate enough to travel and see first hand the many unique products that every country produces. I now sell products from 10 countries and my clients appreciate the beautiful accessories.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Paz y Luna , Paz is my maiden’s name and Luna was picked by my daughter for the business name . Paz y Luna is a company that sells hand crafted accessories from around the world . It hasn’t been always being easy, but I have been persistent . The business has grown . I started with two markets on the weekends , and these last two years it went from two markets to eight markets .
I like to think that Paz y Luna is helping continue and preserve this skills of these artisans , that otherwise will be lost .

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my friend to The Surfside beach and walk to the Haulover Inlet .
We would have dinner at my new favorite restaurants in town Doya in Wynwood .
Another beautiful place in town that I would like to take her would be Fairchild Gardens . Also Taking a drive to Key West , is a unique pleasant experience , I just love the drive .

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am very thankful to the many artisans that make every single item I sell . I feel very blessed to have a relationship with them .
