We had the good fortune of connecting with Carole Bardasano and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carole, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my business after spending 16 years in corporate after seeing a need in the market. I had just gone back to school to learn Digital Marketing professionally and when I came back, everyone wanted to “pick my brain” to get help getting clients online. Business owners and corporate people needed to learn this new digital world but no one had the time. We developed a 2-day executive program that taught people everything they needed to work and execute a Digital Marketing Strategy in an actionable framework.
What should our readers know about your business?
The Digital Buzz specializes in teaching business owners how to monetize Instagram and drive revenue through content people actually care about. Most people on Instagram fall on 2 categories. They’re either just growing followers and posting like influencers or content creators. Or they’ve turned their Instagram into giant infomercials with their sales pitch. Our specialty is in teaching entrepreneurs how to build an engaged community of people who care about what you do while make posts that drive revenue (even on days you’re not posting).
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Whereas most people would go to Lincoln road, I think that Miami has so many other beautiful areas that are beyond just one street. Some of my favorite spots that I always take new friends visiting to are: Coral Gables Biltmore Hotel, Coconut grove, Fairchild tropical garden, South pointe, and of course walking and eating in Brickell. My favorite restaurant has remained Sugarcane and Joe’s Stone Crab.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I was already an adult working in corporate when the digital world started taking over. It was my dad who kept insisting I go learn professionally even if it meant starting over. I had a well paying job as head of Programming at MTV & Comedy Central. So making the decision to leave stability to “go back to school” seemed insane at the time (this was 2012). My dad has a saying that goes “learning doesn’t take up space”. And he’s always pushed me to learn as many skills because he says they pay the best dividends. Fast-forward 11 years. He was right.
