We had the good fortune of connecting with Carolina & Ruben Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carolina & Ruben, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I thought I will never know in deep what is like to feel at risk or in fear for a decision, we can personally say we have never experienced risk the way we did when we adventure ourselves to take over a business so suddenly. We never thought in a million years that we will have the opportunity to own a business and that 2021 was going to be the year to conquer the fear of owning something that for us was so big and risky. Risk has taken the major role in our career because it was really the step we needed to get out of our comfort zone and to adventure into something completely new; we will definitely say taking the RISK and leaving the fear behind has been the best decision we have ever made.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We have a beautiful farmers market located in Southwest Ranches where we offer organic and raw products like meats, dairy, local produce and many more. We focus on healing ourselves through food which is what we put in our body everyday so we mainly focus on local healthy, organic and sustainable products.
We are definitely proud and excited about the growth and plans we have been able to accomplished in such a little time; when we took over this business, it was going downhill, losing customers, revenue and the physical image of the business was not the best one. We transformed an old market into something that wows customers when they walk-in, we have put so much love and dedication that our customers can definitely testify the love we have for our market.
Overcoming challenges is the most rewarding lesson we can receive on our daily basis; knowing how to turn it around for better is the key. I will say the biggest challenge is overcoming that daily battle you have with yourself about whether you are giving enough to your business or if you have what it takes to run a business and my answer to that is YES you have what it takes; do not let others bring your dreams and desires down; everyone is running a different path at a different speed and you will get to where you need to be when it’s your time.
We want the world to know that at Southwest Ranches Farmers Market we run a business with a future, we are here to make a difference in our customers daily groceries shopping, build relationships and to incentive everyone to shop and support local !
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I will definitely take my friend to Southwest Ranches Farmers Market, we host our Marketplace event every Saturday where family and friends can enjoy local vendors selling their product and support the best food trucks in town! Our weekend marketplace is the perfect spot to eat, drink and shop local!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My recognition definitely goes to Ruben Hernandez (my husband) who believed in me when he was in fear and denial that we could handle and succeed into this business; he has been my rock and biggest support through everything. Our biggest recognition as couple goes to God who made this opportunity possible and flip our world for better. When this opportunity was presented to us, I prayed to God and said “God if this business opportunity is for us is because you are going to bless us by taking this business to a whole another level but if it’s not like that lord I don’t want it, move it away from me.” little did we know was that he had already taken care of everything and our market has definitely reached a whole new level of success.
