We had the good fortune of connecting with carolina salazar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi carolina, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Have you ever felt like your life has just gone in the direction it was always meant to go in?
I have always had the strong belief that my happiness is more important than how much money is in my bank account. (Maybe thats not the right mentality to have living in Miami lol) I know it sounds cheesy and “romantic” but today, at 28 yrs old, I still live my life and make many of decisions based on that. I have always followed my gut and taken risky decisions when it comes to my career path and they almost always end up as something I didnt regret.
What brought me to starting my own business was when I found myself in a situation where I felt like I was STUCK. I am a chef, if there is something I live for, it is cooking. I love cooking for my loved ones, for people i do not know, and for myself. I think I am on of the few people in this industry that works 8 hrs in a high intensity restaurant and goes home to cook an amazing meal. I never get tired of it. So… back to the story. I was working in a management position in a fast food restaurant. Yes my paycheck was great, but i wasn’t cooking. After around 5 months of working there I started making menus and posting them on instagram once in a while announcing I was delivering food on my day off of work. I was surprised of how many orders came in. I felt that rush, that indescribable rush that I always feel after making something delicious. It was then, that I started my own business. This happened for around 1 year and a half, sold food under my instagram handle @carothechef and then decided to create something more legit so I launched DISHIGOOD in February of this year. Dishigood was created to offer and help people have delicious, healthy, homemade meals delivered at their homes, Our meal are cooked the same day they are delivered.
So to answer this question, what makes me happy is doing what I love to do. Being able to do what I love as my job is what makes me happy.
What should our readers know about your business?
Dishigood was born in February with the mission of delivering healthy comfort food to peoples homes. Dishigood was born after many years of me cooking from home for friends and family. Then other people started hearing about my food so I began posting menus on Instagram randomly. Orders started picking up! I decided to make it more oficial so I designed my website and published it in February, making it a lot easier for people to place their orders. A challenge I have faced throughout this time has been balancing my work/life. Other than Dishigood, i work at Mamey part time, and have my own catering business. I think what makes Dishigood so special is how fresh, tasty, and diferent our options are. I cook the food the same I day I deliver it.
