Meet CAROLINE ZENNY | CEO / BRAND OWNER , KAKI RUM

I believe that my strong work ethic has significantly influenced the success of my two daughters, who have achieved remarkable accomplishments at a young age. Growing up, I worked alongside my father, a businessman who owned multiple enterprises. From the age of 12, I assisted in his retail store in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, selling merchandise like any other employee. At 19, I worked in his distillery in Leogane, Haiti, as the sole woman among approximately 50 men. These experiences were not obligations but choices I made to contribute and learn at a very young age..

I’d say South Beach, without a doubt. It’s incredibly vibrant and exciting. After that, our next destination would be Wynwood, where we can admire the diverse artistic talent of the Miami community. There, we would indulge in typical Latino cuisine and, of course, savor some delicious cocktails made with none other than rum, which of course is my favorite.

My dedication is undeniably to my parents, who tirelessly worked alongside me day and night for days (which turned to months) to develop the bottling design, labels, slogans, and posters for Kaki Rum. My dad shared the generations-old Kaki Rum recipe, which he remade multiple times to ensure it was identical to the Clairin he used to craft in the countryside of Leogane, Haiti, made from sugarcane. After a full day at my previous 9-5 job, I would return home to find them waiting, eager to brainstorm ideas together. They were not only my mentors but also my guides and advisors.
