We had the good fortune of connecting with Catherine Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Catherine, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
It took years before I discovered that my ability to write and speak could be a career path. I obtained a Communications degree from a university and still asked myself, “What do I want to do with my life?” I realized that all I have – is all I need. I accepted that there was more to this natural inclination to write poetry and chose the path the was fulfilling – and ironically it had nothing to do with me… but everything to do with what came through me.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a little corporate and creative…. maybe I’m a corporate creative… yes, it’s a thing. I’ve simply figured out a way to turn my passion into a profit. I formed a business from my talents. As a poet and writer, I like to tell stories through poetry and rhyme. I enjoy bringing reconciliation and virtue with my writings and pieces. I’m most excited about a few ventures! I recently partnered with 2 friends forming the Branding Lab Group. We help female entrepreneurs and ministry influencers build brand blueprints from scratch. My Love Notes for U Etsy Store is live and it features greeting notes and greeting poems for various occasions.. Last but not least, I’m launching my new Lux Note service for businesses. It hasn’t been easy, but it’s been most rewarding. To overcome the challenges along the way, I’ve just stuck to the plan, yet allowed it to naturally evolve. My business has evolved over the years and as entrepreneurs, it’s important to let your ideas grow with you. When you have a dream, you win by not quitting. You may pause due to life circumstances – but never stop. Learn to liberate yourself from the opinion of others when it’s not aligned to the truth. I never started a new venture without a revelation. That revelation or actualization has kept me going when life happens.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a little simple. I get excited about great food and timeless conversation. We’d probably have brunch like every morning, lol. My favorites spots are Mom and Pop Food Shops – like Brick and Spoon, Another Broken Egg, etc., and local Parks, like Crane’s Roost. We may even travel to the local Sunflower and Blueberry Farms on the outskirts of Orlando. What’s beautiful about the Central Florida area – it offers eclectic experiences.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well, there are quite a few individuals and groups that have made a major impact on my life. Firstly, my faith and utilizing biblical principles have intrinsically influenced my life course, my decisions, and my journey overall. I am so grateful for the foundation my parents laid. They did the best with what they had and it gave me something to build on. No one is great alone and no one becomes great alone. There are countless friends, family, and church communities that have added a piece to this beautiful puzzle called my life. These pieces have contributed to the woman I am today.
