We had the good fortune of connecting with Catherine Fox Milian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Catherine, what do you attribute your success to?
The ability to change, pivot, and not be scared of change has been a big part of the success of our 51-year-old business. I’m not one to overthink things and I think that’s been an important part of keeping our brand relevant in a changing retail landscape – we’re never afraid to try an idea and see what happens!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Chic Parisien is more than half a century old but we carry the latest, trendiest designers globally, we always have our eye on the latest trends and up-and-coming designers to add to our roster of international couture names. Right next door is The Find Bridal, our sample sale store – an innvovative concept to meet the needs of a bride who wants to take her dress with her off-the-rack and the saavy shopper who is looking for a deal on a designer dress. Lastly, we have our e-commerce project The Beach Bride by Chic Parisien, where we curate bridal looks beyond the traditional wedding dress with a beachy spin. Of course, we’re in Miami after all!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are so lucky to be located in Coral Gables, a beautiful, historic pocket of Miami. I also live nearby, so I’d say the week would mostly revolve around our lovely community right here in the Gables, a few of our favorite spots are Hillstones for martinis after work, Sushi Maki or Sakura for lunch (we love a sushi lunch!), Talavera if we’re in the mood for margaritas, and a coffee from House of Per’La down the street or juice from Gables Juice Bar right across from them. We usually take visitors out on the boat, it’s truly the best way to see the city. If you’re looking for some bridal-inspired accessories or swimwear (so many bachelorette parties in Miami!) you must stop by Chic Parisien to shop The Beach Bride pop up and stock up on affordable little goodies for your time here. Lastly, Fairchild Tropical Garden, is both a beautiful place for a wedding and walk around during the day.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family! This is a family business, my parents started the business together more than 50 years ago and now let me run it how I see fit. Today, my husband and children deserve a shout out, this is a business where you work on Saturdays and travel quite often and they’re patient and giving with their time, energies and talents. They’ve come in during “all hands on deck moments” and each plays a role in making everything work smoothly!
