We had the good fortune of connecting with Catiana Altidor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Catiana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Truth be told, I never thought I could actually own a business. I would daydream about it but I never thought I could actually take the initiative to start it. Starting a business felt too BIG for me. Gripped with self doubt and fear, I had a problem believing in myself due to past failures in my life. Then, in 2021, I found myself at rock bottom. At this point in my life I made the decision to leave my then abusive marriage and walk away from the life I was accustomed to. Once I left, I had to move back in to my parents’ home and start my life over from scratch. In that place, I rededicated my life to Jesus Christ and began to have dreams and visions of seeing myself speaking on stages. I thought it was odd because I was someone who had so much anxiety about public speaking, yet I was excited to start because it gave me a sense of purpose since the life I once known up until that point was torn to shreds. I knew I had a powerful story that needed to be shared with other women, I just didn’t know how it would be done. In that broken place my purpose was revealed to me. In that broken place, I took the initiate to start a speaking and coaching business. I didn’t know the strength I had until the strength I had was all I had.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business is called Predestined For Purpose LLC. I mentor/ coach women who have been through difficult things in life (I.e., domestic violence, homelessness, human trafficking, etc.)
My job as a coach is to help restore my client’s identity and heal from past traumas so she can also discover their purpose in life and pursue her God ordained destiny.
I first started my business in 2022 and I made (like every other entrepreneur) so many mistakes. Of course, it was not easy. I quickly realized that I wasn’t ready to start my business yet because I had more healing to do myself before I could thoroughly coach anyone else. I took a pause at the end of 2022 and at the end of 2023 I began to mentor again. This time I was in a better place to listen and deliver to my mentees according to their needs and not what I thought they needed.
Currently, I am rebranding my business so my website is not officially up yet but I hope that I can always come back in and update you all once my website is back up and running!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was coming into town we would defiantly do brunch in somebody’s waterfront restaurant OKAY! The girls know I love me a good brunch in the sun! I love being outdoors so we would definitely hit up the beach and maybe spontaneously jump on the jet skis. We could have a good time anywhere, we could be in a coffee shop cracking jokes and laughing as we share our fondest memories. I love a peaceful environment. I don’t like large crowds so something like painting, candle making, a picnic in the park, pottery classes are right up my alley. I love fine dining so I a nice dinner where we get to dress up really classy and go listen to some soft jazz is all me.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Firstly, I want to give a shoutout to the head of my life. My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Without His grace and mercy, I wouldn’t be here today, (literally).
Secondly, I want to shout out my family for supporting me and my daughter’s during the most crucial time of our transition. They embraced us back in even though I wasn’t always the easiest person to deal with. Nevertheless, they supported me in the midst of it all.
Lastly, I want to give a shout out to my wonderful friend Michelle Boykin for sticking by my side through out my healing journey, she saw the worse of me, yet she never treated me with any contempt. Words cannot express the place in my heart she holds.
