We had the good fortune of connecting with Cayleth Vivas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cayleth, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
This is actually something I keep learning every day in this 5-year path that I have towards becoming a Creative Director. The creative industry is actually a people business, talent and skills will only get you so far. Most people, even us as creatives, tend to think that the best design, the best crafting, and the coolest ideas will get us where we want, but it’s actually the ability that we have to communicate and pitch those ideas, to resource, manage teams and relationships, and control workflows.

Being a rockstar at creativity doesn’t actually qualify you to be a creative leader. Think about it, we spend years and years of our lives just learning about the software, the fonts, the aesthetics right? We have to prepare ourselves as deeply to learn the soft skills that take to thrive in this industry specifically with the non-creatives, upper management, the project managers, finance, IT, and other representatives. It’s about becoming a strategic partner to everyone inside and outside your team.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a multidisciplinary designer and creative director. I actually started creating content on Instagram while I was studying industrial design and worked my way to working with different brands, I’ve always liked to incorporate my design skills into my creative proposals (for fun) and that’s when I realized I loved everything related to advertising and digital marketing.

That’s how I got my first job as a junior creative director at an agency in Miami, and then kept working independently with other brands, saving money to then fund my own company in 2018 called CCreative, a creative community made for artists from all around the world to work with brands and collaborate with each other. We went from ”community management” and social media grids to specializing in brand experience, managing talent, and selling campaigns to big brands. We’ve done creative media trips, and recently started doing commercials for brands like Stella Artois, Nike, Google, and many other creative collaborations we’re very proud of.

There have been some challenges, of course, but I feel like being an artist at this time where millions of people can see your work overnight and you can literally change your life in 1 post, this has been definitely the best decision I’ve ever made.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Where should I start haha °Chico Malo, pura vida for brunch.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give the recognition they deserve to all the independent artists and companies that have been partners and collaborated at some point with CCreative, our creative production company. Every day we are more and more independent artists creating jobs, new opportunities, and learning from each other so I’d definitely love to thank you for believing in this, for all the hard work and dedication.
