We had the good fortune of connecting with Celso Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Celso, how does your business help the community?
In my work I like to highlight personalities of the community that contribute to the development and culture of the place where I’m working. This has a direct impact in the immediate surroundings and the community and that spreads to the world.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
For me the possibility to translate my visions, my emotions into a visual language is exiting. I’ve been working since I was a kid in developing my own visual language in multiple mediums. The challenge has always been to find new ways of expression while developing a coherent body of work.

The biggest lesson has been that there are no friends in the professional world, it’s a jungle, and you have to hunt your success.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you are for a week in Puerto Rico, there is a lot to do.

Monday – during the day walk to old San Juan, have a Piragua (traditional ice cone) at el morro and drink at la Perla. At Night Bomba & plena at Bonanzas and hip hop night later at La Respuesta

Tuesday – day trip to Culebra island
Dinner at Sabrinas calle Loíza.

Wednesday- day trip el Yunque , food kioskos de Luquillo . Nightlife at calle Loíza (bar hopping)

Thursday – art day. museum of contemporary art, museum of art, visit calle Cerra (street art) end up at el Watusi local street bar of the art scene.

Friday – horse riding at Carabali night out at la placita Santurce

Saturday – day trip to Loiza eat at el buren de lula , dinner at Raya

Sunday – brunch at Musa , beach and sleep.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My story is possible thanks to my mother and her ability to recognize at an early age my interest in art. She provided the tools and scenario for me to develop and think big.
