We had the good fortune of connecting with Cesar DeGracia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cesar, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I grew up in Hialeah with Cuban parents, which is not a rarity in Miami but being Cuban American anywhere else is a bit more unique. I think for most Comedians with similar backgrounds we feel the need to explain or translate who we are. That can be said really for all artist of course. I want to take my comedy and experience beyond Miami.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Pick one thing!!!! That is my lesson. I love Comedy, in every form, Sketch, Improv ,Stand up, etc. I love Filmmaking and I love Acting. My problem is that I have always done all at the same time. I am finally narrowing it down to just two, Stand up and Filmmaker. I don’t regret the journey though. I have enjoyed and learned a tremendous amount from diving into everything the performing arts have to offer. I would say that is what I am proud of. I have worked in Television both behind and infant of the camera, Been in movies and shows as well as Directed a short film and short documentaries. I have done theater and created a one person show that played in New York’s UCB theater. I also taught improv and acting for the camera at the New York Film Academy in south beach for 8 years sharing all that I have learned the hard way. In short I am a Clown of all trades and I’m okay with that.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I was a tour guide for sometime, so I would probably take them through some of my old routes. Little Havana would be my first stop. Grab some food and drinks at Ball & Chain then walk and get some cafecito, croquettes and hopefully make it to Brickell. Then onto South Beach and give them my Art Deco tour. And finally to Hialeah to have the best Frita Cubana.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Wow. There are so many. I have to give a shout out to 3. Sorry I just can’t pick one. 1. Manny Garravito, bringing marketing strategies to the comedy scene in Miami and really helping it grow. And he also coaches other comics apart from being pretty damn funny himself.

2. Jeff Quintana, probably the best improv teacher around and I have met quite a few. But Jeff has a heart of gold and is always ready to help anyone become a better version of themselves.

3. Brittany Brave. Just Clutch. she comes through every time I have needed her for a show. A star on the rise.
