We had the good fortune of connecting with Charisma DiSario and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Charisma, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For me it was a bit of a surprise. I had 1st started by designing things for myself. Then one day I decided to design something for my Drag mom, Carmen Adore, and when she walked into the bar to perform the reaction was incredible! It just kinda started in that moment. Everyone was asking for me to design for them.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I actually started out as a singer. That’s the top of the pyramid of my dreams. I continued to get the same comments tho as I attempted to chase my career. It was always that my image didn’t match my personality or voice. Well then one day my life came to a complete stop. My dad was diagnosed with cancer and passed away. I had stopped doing much performing. I kinda lost myself for awhile. I was asked to perform for a charity event fighting cancer. It felt like my dad was saying it’s time to get back into it. So I told the charity I would sing in their show. They then asked if I would do it in drag. I asked Carmen if she could help me and the rest was history.

I was VERY happy that not long afterwards I managed to get through a few rounds of American Idol as Charisma Adore. It felt like the world was telling me something and I needed to listen. I’ve worked with Grammy award winners and nominees. Producers with number 1 singles. My life was amazing! But I learned that it can quickly get kicked out from under you. I had received back to back ligament injuries. My right elbow and left knee. It honestly destroyed me for longer than I wish I allowed it to. I have learned a lot from it tho. If you want something in this world you have to show them why you belong on that stage and why they can’t do it without you.

My eventual goal is to be a EGOT. Which is a Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony award winner. One step at a time but I will eventually make it happen if I work this hard.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had someone come visit town my 1st thing I would do is take them to the beach! I know that they won’t stop thinking about it and how amazing it is so I figure let’s get that out the way early. The next thing I would do is take them to my job at Lips Fort Lauderdale and Cosmix School of Makeup Artistry. I know they would GAG over all of the queens there. Then I of course would have to take them to Wynwood and Wilton Manors. Show them some of the areas to see some beautiful inspiration.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yea one of the biggest that deserve it is my Drag mom Carmen Adore. She saw the potential in me and VERY PATIENTLY decided to start teaching me how to make Charisma live. From makeup, to sewing, to performing etc.
