Meet Chocolate Fe | Spoken Word Artist, Motivator and owner of SHE Originals custom jewelry and accesories

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chocolate Fe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chocolate, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I still work a full time job so instantly that is 40 hours a week gone. Thank goodness I love what I do so it does not seem like work. I actually find myself scheduling my tasks in my head even in my sleep. yes, when you are passionate about what you do, you Eat, Sleep and Breathe it!. I actually have a large dry eraser calendar where I write down events/commitments for my Spoken word and Motivational speaking events. I have a separate board to keep track of client orders for SHE Originals. This helps keep me on track when I am able to see it. I also block off self care time for me. I have learned that “You can’t pour from an empty cup”.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I never saw myself being a Spoken Word Artist. You see, I made the mistake of looking at who people told me to see. A Victim diagnosed with Lupus Sjogens Syndrome and a person with limitations. I later learned that I should have been looking at who GOD created me to be. I was created, on Purpose, for Purpose and with Purpose. Once I changed my mindset, it took the limitations off. I am so proud to be able to help individuals break through this barrier. my SHE Originals (Broken CrayonsCollection0 has taken on a life of it’s own. I take broken jewelry pieces and recreate them into unique works of art. There is no such thing as junk. I equate it to when we as individuals feel broken because of. our past, low self esteem, a traumatic experience, etc. I had to remind myself that :Broken Crayons still color.” . The STORY behind these unique pieces My Broken Crayons Collection one of my most endearing projects. I have paired it with #DearBrownGirl merchandise which promotes the message behind my poetic single which has now become a MOVEMENT.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I tend to steer away from crowds. I also am not a fan of mall shopping, so for that reason we would probably start our day taking a morning walk and meditation on the beach. next would come a treat of a nice cup of coffee and conversation. S.t .Augustine never gets old so we definitely would have to visit and take in some shopping. While shopping there we must have a nice waffle ice cream cone and then a late lunch. There a few spots I would like to hang out such as Jazzy’s restaurant where we could listen to some live entertainment and partake in some good food! Needless to say, there would not be a boring moment.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a huge shoutout to my cousin Ta’Racya for pushing me on stage for my very first open mic. I would also like to thank Jason Tolbert for helping me to walk in my purpose early in my career. He gave me the tools I needed to be able to navigate on stage as well as behind the scenes. I have to give a shout out to Crystal D. Life. This motivator gave me the tools that I needed to “Heal my Little Girl inside”. The encouragement and support of my loved ones means the world to me. If you have purchased product from SHE Originals, attended a Spoken Word or motivational event, supported From Pain to Purpose Foundation or given me encouragement through each hurdle I faced as a 14 year lupus survivor, I appreciate you! Last but not least, to every person who whispered a nugget of wisdom in my ear, volunteered time behind the scenes to make sure that I continued to shine. I thank you from the bottom of my heart
