We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Cavallo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
Have a recovery community for unhoused women and children that are dealing with either mental health and/or Substance Abuse Disorders in the next 2 years

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Robin Foundation was co-founded by myself and my remaining daughter, Cristina, in memory of Robin and Stefanie Cavallo, mother and daughter.

Robin was an activist and well-known throughout the Recovery community in South Florida. Robin, who was in active recovery for 17 years, was always willing to help others in need who were dealing with the disease of addiction. Robin, after surgery, was prescribed pain medicine, which she became addicted to, and soon after died from an overdose. Our daughter Stefanie, who was Cristina’s twin sister, never fully recovered from her mother’s Robins passing. She was in and out of recovery for many years until she died from an overdose by way of fentanyl poisoning.

Our family is committed to spreading a message of hope for recovery and preventing other families from the same senseless tragedies by distributing Narcan as well as providing training to as many individuals, families, and organizations as possible in South Florida about the opioid epidemic, as well as how to administer Narcan in case of an overdose.

The Robin Foundation is also committed to one day having a facility for women and children who suffer from substance abuse disorder and mental health challenges.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would bring them to Los Olas in Ft Lauderdale during the evening and South Beach during the day. I always have been a big fan of Cheesecake Factory in Los Olas and Joe’s Stone Crab in Miami Beach. There is nothing better than hanging out on Lauderdale beaches as well as Hollywood Beach and enjoying walks along the Boardwalk.. Maybe we could also grab a Heat game where we had floor seats for many years, but traffic can be a challenge, so maybe an evening watching our Inter-Miami soccer team and seeing one of the greatest players of all time Lionel Messi, and if it was September through January we could watch our amazing Miami Dolphins where again we had a suite we shared with several other family friends at Hard Rock Stadium.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My daughter Cristina is the co-founder of The Robin Foundation and really a Harm reduction specialist and an addictionologist, she deserves all the credit of our organization
