We had the good fortune of connecting with Christian DiMaggio and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christian, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I am an absolute firm believer in the age-old saying “No risk, no reward”. Naturally, as human beings, we avoid situations that we are unsure of. If we are not absolutely certain of the outcome we tend to not go after that venture, that business opportunity, that job. We fear the unknown and innately want to protect ourselves.
Growth is uncomfortable, that is why when you experience growth you also experience growing pains. It can be daunting to not know the way things will end up. But and this is a BIG but, instead of focusing on the things we do not want we should focus on the things we DO want.
What if that business venture works out and allows you to quit your day job and to go into business for yourself? What if that job you were afraid to take catapults you to a new level? A level that you would have been unable to obtain without having taken that risk! What if that business opportunity absolutely works out in your favor and it changes your and your family’s lives?
Risk is healthy for your own personal development. If it does not work out – OH WELL! There will always be more opportunities and time to TRY AGAIN. If you get knocked down, look up and if you can look up that means you can GET UP! I’d rather say “Oh well” than “What if”.
Take the risk, take the opportunities, and always remember that fortune favors the bold. If you can see it in your mind you can hold it in your hand.
Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My art is just me. No one has the vision YOU have, no one can do what YOU do, so my art is my own unique perspective expressed through photography as the medium. I just follow my heart and allow myself to be inspired and go with it. I simply continued to shoot for years to hone my craft and put one foot in front of the other, this is what I have always done and will continue to do for the rest of my life. It is not easy to stay focused and disciplined in the beginning but then it becomes a part of you and your habit, so it does get easier as you go along the way.
I am humbled by what I have experienced and have seen how people, after shooting with me, experience a major confidence boost. It was this ability to have people leave my sessions feeling empowered that really has pushed me to continue in this field. We all have so much beauty in us and sometimes it takes someone else to show you exactly how uniquely, beautiful you are through their eyes or in my case lens.
I would like the world to know that I’m a multidisciplinary artist & multi-published photographer shooting fashion, lifestyle, beauty, and fine art. I’ve traveled the USA and shot multiple fashion editorials with models from top modeling agencies such as NEXT, Elite, and Wilhelmina Model Management. During my time in Los Angeles, I shot multiple Celebrities including Nicholas Cage, Laurence Fishburn, and Peter Facinelli.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I am in Ft. Lauderdale I am definitely going to Las Olas to get some great food and drinks at one of the many fine establishments and honestly may check out Wilton Manors in the evening. If I am closer to Miami I will head out to midtown or Brickell and definitely have to check out the Wynwood art district.
I am a pretty simple guy so I love to read, eat, create and go to the many beautiful beaches we have available.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God of course. My wonderful sister’s Destiny Enjoli and Imari Angelic. Both business owners and pillars, who continuously support me in all that I do. Some Amazing books I have read include; See you at the Top by Zig Ziglar, Psycho-cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz, and Ask & It is Given by Jerry & Esther Hicks.
I encourage everyone to read these books as they have brought me so much growth and have helped me in my entrepreneurial journey!
