We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christina, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
After becoming an energy worker and yoga teacher and working with so many people to MANAGE stress, I knew that there needed to be a better way to “teach” people about releasing emotions and giving them a practical way to do it. I had seen rage rooms popping up as a new popular activity, and I felt like it was an amazing activity and business idea! The first time I visited one to “research”, I left the session SOBBING in tears! So many feelings came up and out in a way they didn’t have a chance to before. I was sold and fully committed to bringing a rage room to the people and I dubbed it “A safe space to feel your feelings!” Mixed with my flavor of fun and inner child play and 90s nostalgia, I’ve created a space to really TAKE A BREAK from the real world and play, release, and feel better when you walk out the door.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What a journey… My background is in film, music, and marketing, and I’ve had MANY careers and gigs and roles, but after many years, I started to feel a call to tap deeper into my spirituality and gifts to give to the world. I think my diverse professional life has equipped me to work with people from all walks of life and connect to them in some way. I’ve had a lot of personal struggles to overcome to get to where I am today, but I never stopped believing in myself or dreaming of a life I truly loved and how I wanted to show up in the world. I can tell you that changing your whole life, facing your fears/traumas/demons is NOT EASY WORK! But it’s 100% worth it on the other side to be free. Find your teachers, and your tribe, and live the life you love. I know it sounds so cliche, but if I can do it, anyone can!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my besties were coming to Miami, we’d definitely take a tour with Key2MIA who provides the most amazing tours around the city with a focus on Black History. She would point out the best food places and we’d eat there! (I’m not a foodie so I am not ever the one in charge of picking food!) Then definitely some beach time and of course, a stop at The BreakRoom to get some stress out! LOL
My friend group is pretty chill… so beach, boats, maybe some art/museums, food/drink, and chilling by the pool! Sun and vibes for us all day!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate a shoutout to every single person who has supported The BreakRoom! My friends, family, and the city of Miami have given me so much love and support on this journey! I’m honored to provide a place for the community to feel, play, and take a BREAK in a fun and unique way!
