We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Carmona and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christina, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my own business was to tell my stories, but also create the roles I wasn’t being cast for. Roles that I knew I could play. Sometimes when you’re not getting the part you want, you have create the part yourself.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an actress/filmmaker/television host and now author. I know it sounds like it’s a lot, and it is but I have always had a passion and love for the entertainment industry since I was a little girl, so this doesn’t feel really fee like work for me. My dad always used the quote, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” So that’s what I did. For me, what ever I can learn, I absolutely will and add that to my arsenal. I believe that being multifaceted in this industry really adds to your worth on a production, while also really teaching you how important everyones role is on set. Learning something new is never a bad thing. It has not been an easy road, and I think anyone in this industry would agree. There’s a lot of “hustle and grind”, but the pay off is always worth it. Having started from scratch and being where I am today, I am here to say that you can absolutely do anything you set your mind to. For one, I had never imagined I would become an author, let alone a children’s book author, but here I am, so get out there and go for it!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my friends are in town they usually would like to catch one of my shows at Medieval Times. After that, I love heading over to Tin Roof for some live music as well as American Social or Hampton Social! Venturing downtown is always a good time especially going to bars like Cocktails & Screams, where everyday is Halloween. There is SO much to do in Orlando, so aside from bringing friends to restaurants and cool bars, there’s usually always a stop at one of the parks. One of the things I love about living in Orlando is when I do have my out of town friends or family come, they are just SO excited to do and see everything. When you live here sometimes you forget how lucky you are!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this shout out to my biggest supporters, my husband Jeremy, my best friend Nando, & my parents. I have so many more wonderful and supportive friends & family, but those guys are a true rock for me.
