Meet Christina DeMarco | Professional Hair Stylist & Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina DeMarco and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christina, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I was blessed to have two entrepreneurs for parents. I got to witness risk taking first hand growing up. Life is short, and nothing is guaranteed. I believe if you have a passion or a desire to pursue something, go for it!!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have loved beauty ever since I was a little girl playing with my barbies and dolls. My mom always says I went into the profession God created me for. I’ve been in this industry professionally for almost a decade already, and my passions have only grown! I would say entrepreneurship is simply in my blood.

When I became a mother a couple of years ago, I had a huge desire to go back to being my own boss 100% again. I wanted to do what I loved, but completely on my terms again and on my time. I want to always be present for my family, and it made the decision easy. It’s always scary taking a leap, but I truly believe if you are passionate about something, you cannot fail. With the amazing support of my husband, I decided to go full steam ahead and start my business, Fifth and Eighth Beauty, and I haven’t looked back since!

I feel very blessed looking back on the last two years and seeing the growth I’ve had professionally. I can’t get enough of hair styling and makeup artistry. I love making people feel their best, and being part of huge life moments for them. My passion for what I do and why I do it is what I credit my accomplishments to. Treating my clients with genuine kindness and really listening to them when they sit in my chair is everything. Despite the talents God has given me with hair and makeup, I believe it’s truly how I choose to treat people that has gotten me to where I am today. Of course I always love when my clients love how I can make them look, but making them feel cared for and doing it with kindness is what I want to really be remembered for.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love all things food and fabulous wine! I have Italian blood thanks to my father, so cuisine and good cocktails are essential and are meant to be an experience! When I’m planning to entertain, this is top priority. Living here in Florida the possibilities are endless! We have beautiful beaches, wineries, fabulous food and endless tourist destinations. I prefer the quieter beach towns myself and finding absolute restaurant gems!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
If it wasn’t for God and trusting in His word and promises, I wouldn’t at all be where I’m at today. With God all things are possible, and that has been a comforting driving force all my life! On top of that, He has blessed me with amazing parents that raised me to be much of who I am today. He has blessed me with my amazing husband, Vincent, who is my unwavering support system, and He has blessed me with two amazing sons that motivate me to new levels. Lastly, it’s only because of Him that I even have the talents and gifts as an artist for my professional life. God deserves all the credit!
