We had the good fortune of connecting with Christine Mills and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christine, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I created The Veranda Entrepreneur podcast for creative women entrepreneurs to hear success stories. I find that is an exciting time to be a creative women and I wanted to showcase how women are excelling in the marketplace.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Aside from podcasting, I’m the author of three books: Young, Gifted and Black: Quarter-life Crisis; Young, Gifted and Black: Midlife and Dream Chasers. I love writing and making sense of the world around me in the world of fiction. I find what helps mostly is to set time aside to write and to take it seriously. You can find my writing at www.christinemills.net.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
South Florida is a fun place to visit and a place I’m happy to call home. If you are visiting for the week, I will first take you for a quick bite to eat at Charlie’s Pastries, in Lauderhill, FL. We will grab a Jamaican beef patty and coco bread. Lauderhill, FL is a historic city in South Florida and home to a large Jamaican community. I will then hit the beach because you can’t visit South Florida without going to the beach. After swimming in Fort Lauderdale beach we will then go window shopping in Las Olas, watch a play at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts or take in graffiti artwork at Wynwood.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family has been the most supportive with my podcast. Whether it’s promoting it among their social circle or just simply giving me the time to interview amazing entrepreneurs. I really appreciate them for believing in The Veranda Entrepreneur Podcast.
