We had the good fortune of connecting with Christopher Marin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christopher, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
When you’re on the right path, things can get tougher. I used to avoid my problems, but once I started facing them directly, everything showed me to keep going and never give up. If it’s something you really want, ask yourself how badly you want it, no matter how hard it gets.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a fitness coach with Above Average. What sets us apart is our transparency and patience. In a world where everyone wants instant results, we create a solid game plan so our athletes and clients can reach their goals safely and effectively.

Getting here wasn’t easy; it took constant effort and believing in myself. You have to be relentless in pursuing your dreams because not everyone will believe in you. Some people, even friends and family, may try to bring you down out of jealousy.

After suffering a brain injury and several other injuries from getting hit by a car while working as a police officer, I fell into a deep depression. Treatment and fitness helped me recover and find purpose again. Helping others through their struggles makes me happy.

The biggest lesson I learned is to never give up. In my darkest times, I almost gave up on life, not realizing the impact it would have on my daughter. Now, I face every obstacle with determination because people rely on me. Remember, even when things seem to fall apart, the universe has a way of bringing everything together. Stay focused and keep moving forward.

I want everyone to know that kindness costs nothing and love always wins.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There’s so many places and things to check out in Miami. Some places that I would take my best friend would be:

Wynwood: I enjoy Wynwood because it’s full of art and all types of food that you can really spend the whole day there.

Downtown miami/ brickell: Downtown miami would be a choice to get a a nice drink at a bar or lounge and for the night life if my friend is wanted to go to a club.

Since I do enjoy nature I would definitely take my best friend on a trail in Virginia key park.

If my best friend were to come down at this time of year would more than likely be checking a lot of the restaurants that Miami spice has to offer. There’s so much to do in Miami that we will be busy.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe a huge thanks to my best friend, Corey Jackson, who I see as a big brother. Despite his own struggles, he has stayed by my side and shown me that unconditional love and support can come from someone who’s not family. Without Corey, I would have given up long ago.
