We had the good fortune of connecting with Claudia Hidalgo and Mariana Muniz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Claudia Hidalgo and Mariana Muniz, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
We had the idea of starting this project because we love clothing and accessories a lot. But mostly, because we love to design, create, and wear unique outfits that you can not easily find or buy out of the shelves. Also, because our friends usually asked us where to buy what we wore and asked us to helped them out to get our look as well.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Since we both love fashion and decor, we always looked for beautiful unique pieces. We noticed that sometimes we could’t find exactly what we wanted or imagined. Therefore, we come out with the idea to travel and look for fabrics and unique items in order for us to find exactly what we were looking for. Unfortunately the pandemic surprised us. But that didn’t stop our project and dream. So we started by putting together a selection of clothing and accessories from around the world and waited and see what will happened. The first challenge was the pandemic of course. We could’t travel, we couldn’t reach vendors, touched the products, etc. Then, the shipping was getting more and more expensive and receiving the merchandise was taking to long. It was very challenging because we didn’t know was going to happen and how clients will react in that special and difficult time for everybody.
But we didn’t make that to stop us. We kept believing in our products and designs by adding little by little more items. The acceptance of our products were great from the beginning. From day one, clients and friends loved the fabrics, patterns, designs, and the good accesible prices.
We learned that it is always all about believing in yourself and your product, be persistent, love what you do, and that the hard work pays off.
We would love to know the world that some of our products we make them with our own hands, and that some of them are one of a kind design. Also, that we work with artisans families from around the world, and that we help them by showing their culture and the natural materials that they use to manufacture each hand made piece.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, we love friends and family to visit us, and of course we really like our beautiful Florida beaches. So a perfect day will be going to the beach. We really like Miami Beach, South Point, and Key Biscayne. Ideally, a day at the beach will be by bring some healthy lunch from Whole Foods, including fruits, snacks, and also have some Argentinean sweets for the afternoon mate that we love so much. Then, after spending a day at the beach, is always nice to go out for diner. There are amazing options now days to dine outdoors at roofs with amazing views, patios under the stars, or terraces looking overlooking the water while enjoying great food and drinks. There are fantastics options to dine in Midtown, Miami River, Brickell, and Wynwood. Miami is perfect because you can find amazing food from around the world like fantastic sushi at Negroni, delicious pizza at Banchero, the best fresh ceviche at Divino Ceviche Doral, the perfect pasta at Casa Tua, great unique dishes at Bunburry, amazing ice cream at Freddo, and also plenty of vegan options as well… you name it. The list is very long!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We couldn’t do it without our love ones. Their support is very important to us. Specially Claudia’s husband, Leo, who helped us out from the beginning and keeps helping us every time possible. Our friends as well, who also support us by buying our designs, visiting us at the markets, or just by giving us a like on social media and recommending us to their own friends. We also appreciate and thank a lot to our family in Argentina who are always sending their support and warm wishes for us to succeed.
