We had the good fortune of connecting with Coco MATA and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Coco, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk has always been a part of my life and career. I am a risk taker because I consider it essential to move out of my comfort zone helping me growth and reaching my goals.

What should our readers know about your business?
I founded my agency 305 PR 7 years ago in Miami, Fl. As a public relations boutique firm we do public and media relations campaigns for clients in different areas like showbiz, publishing (authors and speakers) and small businesses. Since day one our motto was: “Because we all have a story to tell”. We became storytellers who love to share real stories from real people. We create and set our very own slogan/hashtag: #prconproposito (#prwithpurpose) When Social Media was a riddle we used to do real-time event coverage for our events and clients. That was a key component to our success and growing. I started @305PR with a partner named Maria Izturriaga, but after a year she decided to took another roads. We are still friends and I will be always grateful for their help.
Since the beginning of my career in 1990, I always knew that I was an entrepreneur despite entrepreneurship wasn’t consider as a business model in Venezuela, my home country. Is never an easy task but as I already told you is my passion… my lifestyle. I learned a lot of lessons but the most important one is that you have to do what you love to do and then everything fits in its place and success become by itself. I would love people to remember us as their favorite and reliable storyteller in the hispanic public relations market in Miami, who works with ethics and true passion.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When I moved to Miami in 2007, sometimes I got homesick but now on I am so proud to be a Miamian and grateful to live in a city blessed with a weather like this and a 305 kind of mood. My husband and I love italian food (he have italian roots) and when speaking about real italian food we go to Salumeria 104 in Midtown. On wednesdays we take a sip in 107th Steak & Bar in Doral, because they had the best #whiskywednesday in town. Beach is a must in Miami so we usually go to Sunny Isles Beach or to Key Biscayne to enjoy the blue and mesmerizing waters. The new Skyview Miami Observation Wheel is a must and if you are talking about hang out and partying Calle 8 is our fav spot to dance salsa all night long. Of course we have to check out the Perez Art Museum, the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Ah and if you are a sweet fan I absolutely recommended Rossetta Bakery, everything, I mean everything is delicious.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In my life and career I have been lucky to have multiples and wonderful mentors. Starting from my mother and my grandfather who always push me to study and encourage me to educate myself to be a professional and an independent woman. Continuing with the solid and strong education received during my middle & high school years at “Colegio Mater Salvatoris”, in Caracas, Venezuela. Since I was young I had the opportunity to work with a lot of talented people who teach me and bringing me the chance to learn from them the inside out of journalism and public relations. I need to mention some of my mentors who inspires me and gave me strong lessons like my god mother Edith Hernández. My first big boss Amanda Herrera. my colleagues Froilán Fernández and Marbella Molina, and María Adela Larrazábal. At last but not least there is one special person that give me an unconditional support Giacomo Franchi, my husband. 20 years ago he became my biggest fan and sometimes believes in me more than myself.
