We had the good fortune of connecting with Coco Rivkind and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Coco, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I launched Coco’s Playhouse by combining all of my talents into a single business entity, integrating a diverse set of skills and expertise. The journey so far has been a continuous process of building and development. Music, entertainment, children, and business finance are my life’s greatest passions. Holding a bachelor’s degree in finance from Emory and an MBA in hospitality from Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne, the premier school in Switzerland, I’ve laid a strong educational foundation. My various goals and achievements have led me to discover my true calling—establishing my own business. This venture serves as a platform where I can apply the knowledge and experience accumulated over the years of education and professional growth

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Coco’s Playhouse specializes in children’s DJ and entertainment services for parties, events, schools, group classes, fairs, and festivals. Recognizing a gap in the market for kids’ entertainment, I began DJing for my sister and her friends’ kids, and the demand quickly expanded. Now, I am booked for events all over, including a memorable performance in Aspen, Colorado last summer. The growth of my business owes much to the power of networking and word of mouth within the community. Doing what you love as a profession certainly makes the journey smoother. Coco’s Playhouse is not just a brand; it’s a space created for children and all those who cherish music and entertainment. The next exciting phase for Coco’s Playhouse involves launching a YouTube show and producing a children’s album. Additionally, the Coco’s Playhouse theme song is now available on all major musical platforms, enhancing the brand’s presence and engaging with a broader audience. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Miami is an eclectic city. If they want to explore the art side of Miami I would take them to the Wynwood Art District where they can see the world’s best-known street artists or visit the many art galleries. If they are into wine, there is a great natural wine bar called Margot. If they want to relax and see the most gorgeous sunset I would take them to South Pointe Park. For sushi there is a great local spot which is South Beach’s oldest sushi bar called Toni Sushi. For Dancing and great music I would take them to Dante’s HiFi which is a Vinyl listening bar and venue.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A heartfelt shoutout to my father, not just because he’s my dad, but because from day one, he’s been my unwavering number one fan. Front and center, he consistently cheers on my thoughts, ideas, and goals. Credit is due to him for shaping me into the businesswoman I am today. In every step of my journey, my dad has been a source of strength and wisdom, making me stronger and wiser. His counsel always stands out as the best business advice, and I’m profoundly grateful.
