We had the good fortune of connecting with Cody Parker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cody, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have been actively pursuing an artistic career for a short time now. For me I think it’s one of the purest forms of work a person can peruse. I am able to use my mind to create something that dictates certain feelings or create vibes for any sort of space. I think the freedom and the ability to create what I feel is why I peruse an artist career. I am my own boss and can determine how much of my energy is dictated toward certain things and projects.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
They are career when I move down to Florida in 2011. I was always artistically talented but never really applied myself. I moved down here to overcome addiction which was really hard so Art was there for me when I have nothing. I started doing simple stencils for a company I was working for, and slowly just kept practicing and putting myself around the right people. I am where I am today because I have sacrificed so much of my time to dedicate toward this craft. I am always challenging myself and putting myself in line for bigger and better things. My journey to get where I am has not been easy. There always is that self doubt and fear that goes along with it, but over time I’ve learned to turn those emotions down in my head. One major thing I’ve learned is to just keep going, just keep creating, be yourself, apply yourself. By doing these things it opens up doors for new experiences in the future, which is what I am most excited for, what’s next!?

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Delray Beach and Delray is an absolute gorgeous “little” big town. I have a lot of artwork and murals in Delray. More recently the OG in delray was just remodeled with 7 murals that I designed and painted. This is one of many locations I’ve done in the area. So I would take whomever out for some good food and drinks at every place that had my work: Roses Daughter, Brule, OG, Brendys Ice Cream, and many more!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are many people that deserve credit for being apart and helping me develop my art career. A lot of people that I have gained a lot of knowledge from is a lot of graffiti writers in Miami. These are people that have experience working on Large scale murals, working of various techniques with spray paint, and just over phenomenal work. Specifically I’d say: Ripe, Dome, Menas, Grabster, Hiero, Jukes, Ruben, and many others. Watching and learning from them has elevated me alot!
