Meet Cony | Artist & Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cony and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cony, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for my business was based on offering custom items with materials I like to work with, such as gold leaf and dried flowers. I started making earrings, then progressed to coasters, trays and chess sets. I became very comfortable with epoxy resin as a medium, and recently started making custom tumblers. After experimenting with alcohol ink, glitter and foil, I have turned stainless steel drinking tumblers into a new platform to display my art. Utilizing social media, I can create a custom tumbler on TikTok live, while the customer offers their input and watches the process unfold.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is constantly evolving! I have used social media to interact with followers who want to watch my process. For example, someone can select a stainless steel tumbler style, provide a color preference and watch me make the tumbler live on TikTok. The customer can leave a comment, and offer ideas while I add foils, alcohol inks and glitter to an epoxy base. I’m proud and excited of the variety of custom items I offer. Two years ago, I was a jewelry designer. Now I add new items to my Etsy weekly, and continue to experiment with different products. I constantly work on improving my art. Gaining a following on social media was a challenge for me this year. I didn’t want to rely on a third party search engine for orders. I set a goal of 1,000 followers, and achieved the goal in two months by posting frequent content. I stay true to my interests and style, and continue to grow my brand based on my process and finished product. My brand often incorporates my love for the beach, and always adds personal touches to the customer.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have lived in downtown West Palm Beach for several years, and most of my favorite spots are within walking distance! For brunch, I would take a friend to Elisabetta’s Ristorante in West Palm Beach. They have bottomless Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas! In the afternoon, I would go to the Lake Worth Pier and spend the day listening to the waves and looking for flawless seashells, followed by karaoke at Benny’s on the Beach. For a nice dinner, I would go to Okeechobee Steakhouse, a traditional classic.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to offer recognition to the most supportive people in my life – my boyfriend Jorge, mom Nanci and sister Michelle. Without them, I wouldn’t have the courage to try new things and put myself and my art on display.
