We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Russell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Courtney, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Majority of my work history was spent in the BPO industry where customer service was king. Having spent 7 years learning from some of the most customer centric companies in the world I decided to hang up my headsets and venture into something that I would be more passionate about, that passion turned out to be videography, and after a year or so of testing the waters I figured if I was going to invest so much of my time into something, it might as well be my hobby. And that’s where I decided to start my business 876 MediaEnt.

As a videographer, I bring my clients’ visions to life through careful conceptualization of their input. Understanding the vibe they seek, the emotions they aim to evoke, and the story they wish to convey are crucial in visualizing and capturing their desired outcome. My clients entrust me with providing them a tailored service and product, and I take their trust seriously. My proudest achievement lies in my continual growth as a professional. I believe that growth is ongoing, and I strive to improve each day. While I’ve put in a lot of work to get to where I am, I know that I’m far from reaching my full potential as a videographer and a creative. Along the way, I’ve learned to stay open-minded towards new ideas and techniques and to experiment freely. I’ve also realized that teamwork is essential, and I’m not afraid to seek help from my network of friends and collaborators to achieve my goals. Ultimately, my goal is to create impactful and innovative videos that showcase my clients’ stories in a unique and engaging way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I consider myself a relaxed individual and have a few serene locations that I frequent, all of which are located in Montego Bay. One of my preferred destinations is Island Strains / Lounge2727, which was one of the first dispensaries to legally operate in Jamaica. I typically visit during less busy times of the day, although it has become increasingly popular lately and tends to get crowded. Additionally, despite my inability to swim, I enjoy visiting the beach to soak up the sound of the waves and the refreshing ocean breeze on my face. However, if I am looking for a more exhilarating experience, I venture outside of Mobay to Negril or Ocho Rios for an adventure to explore one of the numerous attractions that I have yet to discover.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Growing up as a 90’s baby I was able to witness the rise of the internet and it’s many staples, the major of which for me was YouTube, so I want to take this time to give a shoutout to YouTube and the plethora of creators that decided to share their knowledge for free on that platform.
