We had the good fortune of connecting with Crissy Conner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Crissy, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success would have to be getting uncomfortable. Everything that has held me back from success I was afraid to do, or I was too in love with my comfort zone. I decided after getting over my fear of video that uncomfortable actions will only bring me growth. Once I got over myself, and chose playing big over small, I’ve never regretted it.
The most important factor behind the success of my brand would have to be video & visibility. I used to say video changed my life, but from the previous question, getting uncomfortable changed my life, video changed my business. As an introvert being able to put myself on video, on stages and “do it scared” has not only helped my business but allowed me to support others with similar fears.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As a marketing strategist, content creator and visibility expert, I help entrepreneurs get more visible, meaning I support them in being heard, being seen and getting paid! But also as The Visibility Queen I help them see what’s possible, I help them with the roadmap to success, I help them see the vision they have for their business and teach them the strategy to get there.
It hurts to see so many out there trying to market their business and honestly you don’t know what you don’t know, but they are being told it ‘has to be this way’ and it doesn’t. You can create not only a life you design, but also a business you design and that includes the marketing, you don’t have to live on social media to be successful.
I am where I am today because I chose not to give up and chose not to play small. Whenever things start to feel safe and normal, I know it’s time to ramp up and get back into playing bigger mode and make uncomfortable choices. It’s far from easy, I’m just like anyone else, we are all in love with our comfort zones and prefer to stay there, but it’s not an option if you are wanting more.
Every challenge I’ve been faced with I’ve gotten through by having a support system, journaling, my faith and by changing the story I tell myself. When sales are down, when someone picks another program, when payments default, we want to immediately make it about us and make it mean something. When it’s just life and we get to pick ourselves up and move forward because it’s time to support someone else, we are shedding and making room for the next person that needs us. I’m not the person I was when I started this business and that is due to the biggest personal growth journey anyone could ever put themselves through and that is owning a business, taking a leap of faith, believing that it’s possible and that success can happen for you too.
Currently I’m most proud of Changing Lives in July, we are raising money for NC4K a local non profit organization in Ohio that helps pediatric cancer families. But I’m also challenging others to go on a 31 day uncomfortable journey with me. Those families didn’t ask to be in an uncomfortable situation, but if we can push through and be uncomfortable for them by doing scary things, asking for donations and changing our own lives we can support that nonprofit in even a bigger way. The visibility, the awareness and the donations can change so many lives.
I want the world to know that I am just a regular person. The only difference between who I was and who I am now is I play bigger, I work on myself every day and I share my story, faults and failures with the world through video.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well it wouldn’t be a weekend with me without some work/life balance. So there would be selfies, content, good food and we’d be sharing on all social media.
We’d start our day with a beautiful walk on the Scioto Mile in Columbus, the views are breathtaking and who doesn’t love a great scene while you are walking, then we’d head to NorthStar Easton for brunch.
We could hit some of the gorgeous alley’s at Easton for photo ops while we did some shopping.
For lunch, I am pretty obsessed with Restoration Hardware in Easton.
Then we would probably frequent one of the two selfie museums in Columbus, which is not only on brand, but so much fun!
And to end the night, I would love to go back to Forty Deuce so we would definitely end our night there.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Nellie Corriveau, my business bestie, my ride or die, my mentor and business partner has to be my shoutout.
She has supported me from the beginning, we’ve been each other’s clients, we’ve grow together, we’ve called each other out and called each other up and don’t let each other fall into the BS stories we like to tell ourselves as business owners. We have our own separate businesses and The Queen Empire is our business together where we have a yearly business conference, a yearly retreat and monthly networking events.
