We had the good fortune of connecting with Cristian Castro-Guzman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cristian, why did you pursue a creative career?
Like all my creative colleagues have a passion for creating art! Whether that be editing or directing, I love to produce content. As a kid growing up through the social media era of MySpace and Tumblr seeing such dope content from creatives all over the world was super exciting for me! I spent most my time learning photoshop and practicing photography on my own during my beginnings mostly because of the environment I grew up in was not the best and I was hungry to learn more about art and beyond!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What I feel sets me apart from others would be the patience, understanding, and compassion I have for people. I love working with others and bringing out their creative side, I’m like a hype man behind the camera! I’m just so excited and grateful to work with talented artists and be able to manifest their vision. I would say that I was able to get where I am at this point in my career by being able to adapt quickly. After leaving my hometown in Mexico as a kid I needed to learn fast and adapt. I was learning 2 languages, help Translate for my parents, try to adopt the American lifestyle and try to have a normal childhood. My life experiences have always pushed me to keep going further, because it has really taught me that nothing is impossible. Just look at what mankind has done in history from creating cures to exploring space. Humans no matter what race or gender are Incredibly Dope.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Boca’s Best is probably one of my favorite spots for pizza, I’m usually the friend coming into town for the weekend to work or hang out so i’ve been exploring more and more dope local spots as i keep coming down!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to shout out my family for all the love and support! It’s been a tough year, but I know there is a bright future ahead. “Échenle ganas!”
