We had the good fortune of connecting with Cristian LaCapra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cristian, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success is not solely measured by financial achievements or professional accolades; rather, it is found in the meaningful connections we forge and the positive impact we make in our communities. For me, success is rooted in authenticity and active engagement, both in my role as a private wealth advisor for Northern Trust, and as a dedicated member of various community organizations. It’s about leveraging my expertise to empower others to achieve their financial goals while also fostering a culture of giving back and making a difference in the lives of those around me.

Success, to me, means embodying core values such as empathy, integrity, and resilience, and using these principles to guide my actions both professionally and personally. It’s about leading by example, inspiring others to join me in creating a more inclusive and compassionate society. Ultimately, success is not a destination to reach, but a journey to embrace – a journey marked by continuous growth, learning, and a commitment to leaving a positive legacy for future generations.

What should our readers know about your business?
My journey in wealth management and community engagement has been deeply intertwined, shaped by personal experiences and a steadfast dedication to making a difference. What sets me apart is not just my expertise in financial strategies, but also my genuine passion for connecting with people and serving as a catalyst for positive change. I am most proud of the authentic relationships I’ve cultivated over the years – relationships built on trust, empathy, and a shared resolve to make meaningful contributions to our communities.

My path to where I am today has been anything but easy. From navigating the complexities of investment banking in New York City, to finding my purpose through civic involvement, each step has presented its own set of unique challenges. It was during my time in New York City that I witnessed firsthand the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity. As a young professional, I found myself thrust into the chaos of 9/11, standing amidst the rubble and devastation, grappling with the enormity of the tragedy unfolding before me. Yet, it was in those moments of darkness that I discovered a profound desire to be of service – to lend a helping hand to those in need, and to play a role, however small, in rebuilding our shattered community.

Through perseverance and resilience, I journeyed to overcome obstacles and emerged stronger, armed with invaluable lessons that have shaped my approach to both business and life. The key lesson I’ve learned along the way is the importance of staying true to my values and taking action when called upon. My story is one of resilience, growth, and a steadfast dedication to serving others – a story I hope inspires others to pursue their passions, embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, and strive to create a better world for all. At its core, my brand is not just about financial expertise; it’s about providing comfort and stability through fostering connections and empowering individuals.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife, Gianni, initially studied medicine, so when our twins entered our lives and our son was diagnosed with autism, that foundational education complemented her desire to dedicate herself to his care.

For the past 17 years, Gianni has been an incredible wife, mother, and advocate. She’s the one who ensures our son receives the holistic support that he needs, thereby allowing me to pursue my professional goals with ease and peace of mind. In addition to her tireless commitment to our children and family, she is also actively involved in the community, proudly serving on the board of The Center for Autism & Related Disabilities (CARD). Recently, Gianni’s dedication was recognized by The Cushman School where she was honored as Volunteer of the Year. This recognition is a testament to her unwavering commitment to giving back and supporting our civic institutions. Gianni is the ultimate example of strength and dedication. Her contribution to our family’s success is immeasurable. She’s the true hero of my story, my life partner, and I’m eternally grateful for her unwavering support and love.
