We had the good fortune of connecting with Cristy Stewart-Harfmann and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cristy, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
My brand, Happy Family Blog is inspirational, yet attainable. My goal is to inspire families to find joy in everyday life. Life is busy and messy, but we want families to make time to spend time together and to celebrate life. We inspire others with: – Easy recipes that you can cook with your family or prepare yourself quickly.
– Simple ways to celebrate life and holidays that you can set up in minutes, not hours.
– Sharing fun family travel that you can do on a weekend with kids of all ages.
We are always true to ourselves and authentic, I never partner with a brand I do not use myself. Your reputation is everything and once broken it is hard to get it back.
What should our readers know about your business?
Starting, growing and running an online business is the greatest gift, but it is a constant struggle to keep up. As a content creator you need to be an expert in all things (or hire someone who is) from branding, photographer, design concepts, SEO, writing, pitching, photo editing, video creation, video editing, all social media platforms, invoicing, accounting, etc. This space is constantly changing so if you are not always learning you will fall behind.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We live in Boca Raton, Florida and it is the most beautiful city. We love the water so most of the time we would spend at the beach, on the boat (especially at Lake Boca) or at the pool. We would explore Mizner Park. Go to lunch at Calaveras Cantina they have the best lunch special with two tacos and a salad or soup. Watch a concert in the amphitheater. Have dinner at Yardhouse for their happy hour menu and get their lettuce wraps.
If her kids come we would to to Gumbo Limbo to see the sea turtles. And Manatee Lagoon on a chilly day to see the Manatees. We would explore some of our favorite parks like the new one on 18th and Dixie.
We would go to Atlantic Ave in Delray for shopping and a yummy meal.
We would go to Palm Beach Zoo or Lion Country Safari, one the countries only drive through safaris.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Running a business takes an army. For me that army is my entire family. When we started my husband was my photographer. Now he handles pitches and lots of behind the scenes work like buying products and setting up for photo shoots. My son and daughter are on payroll as models. My daughter is 9 and asks every week what campaigns she has. She loves to work. She has become the second voice of our brand.
She does lots of campaigns, all our PR unboxing and recently was hired by LEGOLAND to be on a part of the LEGOLAND Florida Kid Blogger + Kid Vlogger program!
The community of bloggers are the most supportive people. There are too many people who have supported me to name all of them. A special thanks to my blogging besties, Michelle Rodgers-Olsen from Modern Boca Mom, Jessica from Get Your Confetti (She has the best printable subscription service) and Krystal from Busy Beach Life. They are always there to brainstorm and give their advice.
