We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Romero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Crystal, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success would be my mission statement for Baked By Crissy, “To connect and build relationships with others while serving within our community”.

What should our readers know about your business?
Baked By Crissy creates beautiful one of a kind custom cakes and cupcakes for all occasions. I take pride in my work and the trust from client relationships to deliver cakes and desserts that are both beautiful and delicious. I also hold Cake Decorating classes at the Special Java Cafe which I really enjoy! and I am able to host private cake decorating parties/events as well.

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of hosting my very first Cupcake Competition event alongside The Inner Truth Project organization at the Heathcote Botanical Gardens which featured other local bakers of all ages and local vendors. It was such a success that we will be having a 2nd Annual Cupcake Event next year! We had such wonderful sponsors and donations from local business and I am ecstatic to have been able to accomplish that.

I am most proud of my growth in both my business and personal life as they have gone hand in hand in my continued success. I do not believe in being perfect as the industry continues to grow and change, I have learned to evolve and practice new techniques that are out of my comfort zone. I think it’s so important to support other entrepreneurs, even in the same industry as you because everyone has their own niche and style. Running a business has been far from easy and it definitely doesn’t give you more time for yourself. However, the challenges that I have faced have taught me more self discipline and better time management. I am the only one behind my business so pushing myself to show up on the good and the bad days makes reaching new levels of success so much more worth it!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
