We had the good fortune of connecting with D Will and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi D, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
You first need to have faith. I am a spiritual person, and I believe that faith is a tool that need to access when it comes to risk taking. In the process of investing in myself, I think of what this decision is going to do to improve my career/life. I have seen many rewards from risks, and I also learned a lot of lessons from them. Having goals and actually achieving them requires risk. Either way you will gain experience.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Overall, I produce music. I wear the necessary hat(s) in order to create a song. I write, engineer, and I make all of my beats. Some tracks that I produced/co-produced range from R&B to reggae, dance, hip hop and more. My rule of thumb in producing is, “Surrender to the vibe.” My family is from Jamaica. I come from Queens and Long Island, NY. I lived in New Jersey, and currently reside in Florida. My life is full of unexpected turns, but the joy is in the journey.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Before Covid, one place that I would often go is The Garden, in Ft. Lauderdale. I would go every Wednesday for “Plug N Play” where the best musicians in South Florida, as well as others would eat drink and vibe. Then we would definitely go to Wynwood, and hit the strip for the good food and the vibes. Its honestly more about the people you spend time with over the actual place. So , I would need to link with the right people, and we can vibe anywhere.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God had always opened doors and opportunities. I’ve been able to meet the right people to help improve my personal/professional goals. At this point of my career I have to acknowledge Grizzly Films and Cubana Liz. These are not just my friends, but they do all of my videos and provide the necessary resources to get the best result. Grizzly is a master cinematographer, check his page on IG: @Grizzly_Films. Cubana Liz is a curator and overall the plug. She supplies models and vision through her Kaviar Models brand. Follow her on IG: @ cubana_liz and @kaviarmodels. Another person to acknowledged is Lyrical Vibrations. He is a Miami based Poet, who helped organize the track-list to my album, “In Due Time.” There are a lot more people to acknowledge, but these individuals made a major impact on career/life. So I def want to give them their flowers. I
