We had the good fortune of connecting with Dan Long and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dan, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think the key factor behind the success of Insert Coin is our underlying passion for gaming. We are gamers ourselves, so we understand and appreciate the deep connection people feel with the games they love – because we feel it too. It’s all about taking that passion from the screen and into the real world.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The video game industry is incredibly fast moving – while simultaneously having a rich and diverse history, despite being only four decades old. But as passionate gamers ourselves, our team is able to keep up to date with all the incoming news – and we’re old enough to have experienced ‘retro gaming’ firsthand too. That balance is important to give Insert Coin’s products balance, enabling us to help gamers of all ages represent in style. Every launch we do is very different though – and has its own surprises and challenges. We’ve recently launched a new Final Fantasy XIV jacket, and we’ve been blown away by the reaction from a new type of gaming community for us – MMORPG. It opens up new and exciting challenges and every community has its own unique, defining characteristics, which makes every day even more exciting than the last. That excitement – and passion for all things gaming – definitely helps to drive us forward to try new things and keep everything fresh for our customers.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The gaming community is what has helped make Insert Coin possible – from gamers at home, through to the press that supports the industry, through to the developers and publishers themselves. It’s an amazing ecosystem, where everyone is passionate about the games we all love.
