Meet Dana Brillante | Marketing Expert, Digital Creator, & Mompreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dana Brillante and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dana, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
As the face behind The Modern Mom Lounge, my perspective on work-life balance has definitely evolved over time. Initially, I approached it with the mindset that I had to excel in every area—juggling content creation, family responsibilities, and personal time all at once which lead to an insane amount of undue stress and a tinge of burnout.
Over the years, I’ve learned that balance isn’t about perfectly dividing my time but about prioritizing what truly matters. I’ve embraced the idea that it’s okay to shift my focus depending on the demands of my work and family life at any given moment. Some weeks, my job requires more of my attention, while other weeks, I might need to prioritize family activities or self-care.
I now think of balance as a fluid concept. It’s about being intentional with my time and setting boundaries to protect my mental health. I’ve learned to communicate openly with my family about my work commitments and to carve out dedicated time for myself without guilt. Ultimately, it’s about finding harmony between my professional ambitions and personal fulfillment, and recognizing that both can coexist beautifully.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started blogging a long, long time ago (some colleagues call me an O.G.). I always loved to write and in 2016 a friend introduced the blogging world to me – and I never turned back! I’ve always been that friend people would come to for recommendations. Don’t know where to make reservations for dinner? Your child is acting a certain way and you want advice on how to approach it. You’re having a party or get-together and don’t know what to serve, how to decorate – you name it, I would be able to guide them (and if not, I would find someone that could).

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start her visit with a trip to a local restaurant – somewhere she wouldn’t have experienced where she’s from. In Palm Beach County, I’d take her to Havana in West Palm Beach. Voted best empanadas by my youngest son, their entrees are huge and super tasty. We’d visit the Norton Museum of Art, spend some time walking around City Place and ending the day with a drink at Spruzzo rooftop.
In Fort Lauderdale, we’d head over to Cafe Seville. Their escargot and of course, the seafood paella are the best I’ve tasted! Hopefully there will be a cool show at the Broward Center for Performing Arts, possibly grabbing a bite to eat at The Chimney House!
In Miami, I’d head over to Cote for a cool dinner (I can’t get enough of their Korean BBQ) or Joe’s Pizza for a quick, delicious slice or two. If we’re still hungry, I’d hop over to Salt & Straw for a scoop of Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper ice cream.
Once she was settled in, I’d opt for a trip on the Brightline to check out Wynwood Walls and the many other art-adorned walls in the area. The next day we’d head over to the Frost Museum of Science and end that day with the Perez Art Museum.
I could go on and on, as there are so many great places to visit and dine in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami Dade counties!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout would go to a few people in my life. My family has been undeniably my rock, always supporting me regardless of the sometimes not-so-popular decisions made. Also, one of my previous bosses exemplified early on in my career what it takes to succeed – a combination of hard work, attention to detail, confidence, and drive.
