We had the good fortune of connecting with Dana Ramos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dana, what makes you happy? Why?
Honestly, getting to do what I love while being my own boss makes me happy; it gives me freedom. It is a powerful and a crazy feeling just believing that it is actually true that I’m able to do things my way. That it is me who sets the rules and customizes my own life and I think that’s beautiful. Seeing people win, specially my closed ones makes me happy. Feeling inspired by someone or something it’s an amazing feeling. Being inspired is one of the coolest things to experience because I feel like a little kid just excited on what my mind has in store this time. How far I’ve come it’s another happy moment and this isn’t about how much things I own but about the small wins that actually mean big wins for me.

Life isn’t perfect and I can’t always be happy but it is the effort I make to stay happy; that is the waves of life. Not wanting to be someone else – take advantage of your flaws and use it to the max. “If there is no shining in the sky today, be your own sun”.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
There’s nothing quite like preparing an event for my clients. I have set up proposals, birthdays, anniversaries, styled photoshoots, and have created a lot of charcuterie boards and more. I like to have a neutral style complimenting natural aesthetic, textures, romantic but of course putting our clients first and hearing their needs is a must. How I Picnic is my baby and I respectfully treat this much more than just a company. Everyday I try to learn and always improve, lots of patience and consistency that might seem hard at first – lots of hard work to get my clients dream vision. Sometimes I’m too hard on myself and never give myself credit but here I must confess that I do have to give me a little pat on the shoulder and should do it more often.

Always go with your heart, it doesn’t matter if you don’t see yourself making it far but at least you started. This beautiful business has helped me grow so much and it is my honor to be part of your special moments.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First we’d stroll Las Olas Blvd and make a stop at El Camino for the best happy hour. The beach is a must and I’d of course curate a picnic for them while we’re at it. I love The Riverfront Gondola tour to explore Fort Lauderdale’s canals in style I think it’s a great experience – the best thing about this is you can also have dinner from Casa Sensei’s restaurant either on the boat or we can stop after to eat at the actual restaurant by the water. In the morning we can grab coffee at Ann’s Florist and we cannot miss a brunch at Louie Bossi’s.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to do a shout-out to Camille at Kamy Photographie. She was the first person I did a collaboration with and I have the pleasure to still continue to work with her. She’s an amazing photographer (and mom) and I feel like we were starting to figure out that new business-owner life at the same time. She has captured many amazing moments of this journey that I will never forget.

And I’d also love to dedicate this shout-out to my best friend Emma who is the queen of Airbnbs. I honestly don’t know what i’d do without her, she has helped me immensely. She gives me the best advise and has been there from the beginning encouraging me. I am so proud of the boss lady that she is. (linktr.ee/emmamontero).
