We had the good fortune of connecting with Dani Silverman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dani, how do you define success?
Success is being at peace with yourself and choosing actions that leave a positive impact on others. Being at peace with yourself is about authenticity with ‘you’ first- in other words, living from a place of conviction and truth. This puts us best in line with our purpose and empowers us to live without fear. Success for me right now is creating time for rest, family and friends, eating healthy, moving my body, laughing and making products that support people’s wellness.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Live Like You Green It is a Black female owned sustainable skincare line. Every product is crafted in small batches with only vegan, organic and natural ingredients. Each offering, like our best-selling natural deodorants and compostable vegan lip balms, come packaged and shipped plastic-free.

I noticed that in the realm of health and wellness, sustainability standards were often conflated. A lot of buzz terms are used to give the illusion of sustainability, but the core mission of the business remains the same- profit. The environment and its people are not at the heart and center of their mission.

The mission of Live Like You Green It is to provide wellness products at the intersection of sustainability, diversity and joy. I believe products must be formulated with attention to diverse people and the planet. I believe that everything we put in and on our bodies should bring us joy. In cultures that promote overwork and overwhelm, prioritizing natural self-care is one of the best ways to reclaim our wellness and reconnect with nature.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Vending every Saturday at the Coconut Grove Organic Farmer’s Market has me falling in love all over again with this historic Bahamian neighborhood and childhood haunt. We’d grab fresh durian and mangosteen, a six-pack of the best local kombucha from Brewing Life Miami and take a walk down Grand Ave chatting about how much the city’s changed. No trip to the Grove would be complete without a sunset dinner at Planta Queen overlooking the bustling intersection below.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my parents. I would not have chosen the entrepreneurial path if it weren’t for the example and support they have given me. My mom and dad both come from humble beginnings. As an immigrant and first generation American, their stories of overcoming have inspired me to live a life of purpose and impact. I am forever grateful for everything they have given and taught me. Cheers!
