We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniela Porat and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniela, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My partner Gabriela Yaroslavsky and I have a history of accomplishments in the graphic design industry. Me as a design professional at Marie Claire in Brazil, where I worked for ten years as art director and Gabriela as an agency professional. When I moved to the US, first to Hoboken, then to Aventura, Gabriela and I understood that we could contribute to the flourishing Florida market with our experience, quality of service and the Brazilian tradition in design, which is very strong. Our initial focus is to serve the community of Brazilian entrepreneurs who came to invest in Florida, a state that has been experiencing great growth and where there are excellent business opportunities.

What should our readers know about your business?
Gabriela Yaroslavsky and I have a design studio called 140 Design. I think what sets us apart is our passion for understanding our customers’ problems and looking for solutions. We take risks every day, it’s the nature of any business. Our responsibility is enormous. Mistakes can jeopardize the correct understanding of our customers’ business. That’s why we have adopted a service methodology that can be explained in a constant connection with customers. We are always available for service, which is the key to a good relationship.

The important thing is that we are in line with our values and beliefs. I believe that the partnership I developed with Gabi and our customers is the key of our success. It’s no use having technical qualities and business vision without good customers. One of them is Those Doces, a truffle chocolate ecommerce store. We developed the website and packaging. The client, founder and CEO Silvana Dezidério just loved it!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Rent Stand Up Paddle or kayak at Oleta Park. Walk on the busy streets of Brickell. Visit the stores and galleries in the Design District, and visit Wynwood’s street art and graphite walls and good restaurants. Walk through the charming neighborhood of Coconut Grove and Coral Gables with several options of good restaurants and music. Enjoy the afternoon at Upper Buena Vista. See the rising moon in Sunny Isles beach on the full moon period, Visit the Frost Museum’s aquarium.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My partner Gabriela Yaroslavsky and I dedicate this recognition to all women who believe in their talent.
