We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniella Ali and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daniella, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
In a market that’s flooded with graphic designers and marketers, you can’t worry about what others offer; you have to do what works for you and work on what you can provide to your clients.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I offer my clients the option to create with me along the way instead of just doing a design. To me, that’s one of the best experiences because working together produces more production while building a great work relationship. I’ve always been passionate about art and not the digital type, the messy, chaotic type where you do all the physical work.
Becoming a graphic designer was a bit of a challenge for me because what I can easily do with a paintbrush or pencil I couldn’t do it so easily on Photoshop or illustrator.
It took me time, practice, and a lot of motivation to get where I’m at today, and while I am proud of what I’ve accomplished, I still think there’s room for more.
One of the main lessons I’ve learned along the way is that rushing the creative process is not what an individual should do. Sometimes it takes several tries and several days to get a project right.
If the world should know one thing about me, my creative process is fueled by reading.
Sometimes I don’t have the motivation to do anything, and once I read a book, it automatically motivates me.
weird, I know. Still, it’s what works for me personally and professionally.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m from a small Island called Trinidad and Tobago, so the first thing I’ll do is take my friend to Tobago for a weekend to relax on the beach and take tours while eating sugar cake. By Monday, we can sleep off the weekend, and by Tuesday, a trip to the bird sanctuary in Caroni after we can enjoy the best seafood platter on the island by Mini Bar Point Lisas. On Wednesday, we can visit the book store and library while looking for new books ending with a trip to Starbucks to enjoy a little reading. Then on Thursday, we can explore Port of Spain while shopping for a night out on Friday where we can get dinner and enjoy drinks on the Avenue.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
