We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Anyasodor- Lafontant and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, how do you think about risk?
Some may see taking a risk as a danger at times however, I always think of risks as taking a chance. I have always been a firm believer that what’s for me is for me and if it doesn’t work out at least I learned a lesson.
Taking risks has allowed me not only to learn many things but I took a risk/chance when I decided to start my business. That chance has allowed me to meet incredible like-minded entrepreneurs. A risk I would definitely take again.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What I am most proud of is the growth of Bèl Flame Candles. When I decided to start making candles it was to help me deal with postpartum depression. At first it was not easy trying to navigate the reality of having recently been laid off. I overcame those challenges by waking up everyday believing it was going to be better than the last and that gave me the motivation. With this mind frame my hobby was quickly becoming my passion. I have learned that we should all be patient with ourselves and not watch what the next person is doing. We think that a person my have gotten “lucky” because of the achievements they have made. However, we don’t know what it took for them to get there.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
It’s funny because as introverted as I am and a homebody I can always find fun things to do. In my opinion, if I’m taking someone out or vice versa food must always be involved lol. Some of my favorite places to eat in the Charlotte area are is STIR, Midwood Smokehouse, The Melting Pot and so much more. Always start off with a great restaurant and maybe a comedy show, basketball game, concert, or shopping. I find meeting people at networking events is fun. Another random place I meet people is in the women’s bathroom.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Consistency in your business is far more important than you can imagine especially on social media. DeAnna Allen, Owner of The Brown Sugar Collab in Charlotte, NC is to who I am dedicating a shoutout to. DeAnna saw my reels on Instagram & reached out. DeAnna took a chance on me by not only adding my products to her store but also having them at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. She noticed my hard work, and consistency and trusted my work enough to put my products in her store. For that DeAnna I appreciate you soo much Thank you! DeAnna has created a shopping experience at her Boutique that highlights products made and sold by women minority business owners.
