We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Cardona and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, what is the most important factor behind your success?
the most important factor behind what I create is authenticity. My music is an extension of myself, and my way of connecting with people. I have many collaborators, and welcome fresh ideas when creating, but anything I create has to come from a place of connecting, and feel like “me” as opposed to just making something that will “sell.”

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a pop singer & songwriter based in New York. The greatest challenge in accepting this path is the risk – it is not a conventional path, nor is it the most linear when it comes to making an income, or building a life in the traditional sense. Overcoming the challenge happened when I realized that making music and connecting with people through my art is the thing that truly gives me a sense of purpose, and fulfills me. The biggest lesson I have learned as an artist, is to trust and believe in myself.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I spend quite a lot of time between Miami & New York. In Miami I honestly love anywhere with a view of the city and fresh air. I spend a lot of time in Brickell, and the Design District and also take advantage of the beaches when I’m there. In New York I spend a lot of time downtown or in Williamsburg. I live in Bushwick, which also has a very large art community and active nightlife.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am so grateful to my community of artists and creatives in New York, who are an endless source of inspiration and motivation.
