We had the good fortune of connecting with Daryl Sandak and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daryl, what do you attribute your success to?
The success of Sandak has stemmed from our customer service. I truly believe you can’t sell something to someone if they don’t need it. Our approach is much more consultative. I truly want to understand my customers’ lifestyle, taste, and budget so i can recommend jewelry pieces they will treasure for years to come.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I moved to NYC from Florida when I was 21 years old. There, I embarked on career in the fashion industry. I kind of fell into the jewelry industry by chance and have remained in it for 14 years. I started at the very bottom as an assistant, getting coffee and doing administrative paperwork (fun!). When the 2008 recession hit, management started being let go. Since I was dirt cheap to employ their work got pushed onto me. Rather than complain about it, I took it as a learning opportunity. I stayed curious, worked hard, and developed a professional network. I ended my professional career in jewelry as a Vice President of Sales for a multi million dollar jewelry company.

Around this time, my friends started getting engaged I helped them navigate the elusive world of the Diamond District and the dealers would give me a small kickback for referrals. I soon realized I had the clients, sourcing, and service to create and sell my own jewelry.

Organically, my bridal business lead me to create pieces that I wanted in my personal jewelry wardrobe. As I identified and created these foundational pieces for myself I decided to launch Sandak Fine Jewelry so women could have the best in category pieces for themselves.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Spa Day at Faena or the Standard
Dinner at Fiola and LPM
Weaving in and out of Bars and restaurants in Wynnwood
Loads of Beach time
Shopping in Design District
Walking around Coconut Grove
We have an incredible view in Brickell-sunset at my place is a MUST!
